Status update

Thanks aurick, that explains everything.

So if someone like me - who wants to learn Zbrush - has to pay the full price? Or is there some kind of an educational licence that Im not aware of? Because, to be honest, 1k$ is more than I make per month and still have to pay all the bills etc... and yet Id love to get skills in Zbrush to be able to get a better job. Unfortunatelly here in my country there are no schools or even courses that I could join and the only way to learn new stuff for me is to do it on my own… so yeah… it would be awesome to have the possibility to buy an educational licence. Or if not - maybe Pixologic would go for a subscription kind of licence - such as Adobe did with their products so people like me could afford this amazing soft and learn? That would be great too I think

@Doug thanks, I was trying to buy Educational Zbrush there, but only two resellers in my country still have Zbrush in store and none of them are selling the “Individual student” license, only the one for Academys and such

Not to mention that the price tag here in PL on Educational license equals the price on commercial licence I would have to pay buy just simply buying directly through the Pixologic website so…

If you are looking in your country, you are looking in the wrong place.

The list of retailers by country is commercial licenses. The only customers that sell academic licenses are those specifically under the Academic heading on that page. As soon as you reach the list of international retailers, you’ve scrolled too far.

The update is free, right? With the update, i can then buy KeyShot (and that bridge) with visacard on your site/pixologic site?
And then I get a link to download KeyShot?
I’m from Switzerland.

Oh, right  Thanks again aurick
But, the website says that Im gonna have to prove my educational status to be able to purchase this kind of licence... and, since Im a self-taught guy, it looks like I`m gonna have to buy the commercial license either way I guess.

Anyways - thanks a lot for your help guys.

You might want to update that resellers page. Half the links are broken.

Could purchase now, save time down the road.
Seriously you should charge more.
All these years, you are entitled to make a little money.
Failing that, how about charges for updates, patches etc.
Anything that benefits Pixologic cash wise is ok with me, I owe.

up until a month ago I would have had no problem paying for an update after so long, but now I just bought a house, let me be cheap for a while longer ;p

Hey, I believe I read that the update to ZB 4R7 is free.

Plus, we’ll get a beta 64 bit version to try out.

I do not know if there will be a charge for update to ZB5 though.

I am in the same situation as mmziemak I am looking to learn Zbrush as a hobby. When 4R7 is released there is going to be a 64bit beta for people to try. Do you have to already own Zbrush to try this beta? I would really like to use the software, but paying $1K + (Including the Keyshot Bridge) without even having a hands on demo is a little steep for me.

Thanks,
SC

It will be necessary to have a ZBrush license to use the 64-bit version.

I do not know when another Trial might be coming out. There is, however, a 30 day return policy in case you purchase ZBrush and are dissatisfied. Simply deactivate any activated copies and then submit a Support ticket.

The 30 day policy is great but I doubt any sane person would want a refund after using such a powerful piece of software.
Zbrush is worth every penny in my opinion.

Yeah i know that the update is free. But I ask meself only where i can buy then the KeyShot thing. Together with the Update, or separate on the pixologicwebsite? And if, in the same time with the update comes?
I self have the 4R6 Version.I

Happy New Year 2015 to all Zbrushers from Morocco.

You will be able to buy the Keyshot package either at the same time you upgrade ZBrush, or later on. The introductory $249 price period for Keyshot hasn’t been stated yet, but after that expires you can still buy the Keyshot package at the higher price of $349.

Yeah, return policy seems fair - but still you need to have a spare 1k$ to get the software in the first place…
I`m just wondering though - if I don’t have a ZB licence - will I be able to buy that Keyshot Bridge thingy?
And if so - would I be able to use keyshot for rendering say models form Blender?
That’s an interesting thing, cause I can afford to spend 250$ now and well… I might starve for another few months to save money for ZBrush and buy it later…

You got that right. ZB becomes more and more fascinating, with every technique I learn.

Ah…I don’t THINK the version of Keyshot that comes with the bridge works as standalone.

Then again…I have been wrong before, many times.

None of the KeyShot stuff will be available until 4R7 is out because none of it will work without 4R7. It will be made available for purchase from the Pixologic store when 4R7 is released.

The actual upgrade to 4R7 will be completely separate. Instructions for that will be made available here at ZBC, on the Pixologic website and also sent by email.

Correct. KeyShot for ZBrush is exactly what its name implies. It can ONLY import from ZBrush, via the ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge. Without ZBrush, this version of KeyShot will do a person no good.

Right
But if I want to save that 100$ once the bridge is released - will I be able to purchase it so I can make use of it later when I can afford Zbrush? Or do I need a copy of Zbrush to be able to buy that ZB-Keyshot bridge?

I know that I`m asking a lot, but it’s pretty important to me. With my budget - every $ counts.
