SpaceMan's SpaceBook Journal On ZBrush

Here’s an MB3D fractal I like the columns with the cave like effect in the corner bottom top. I have been experimenting with the clip brushes to clean
it up some and they work good on the fractal. All that I have done to this fractal so far is flip the polys and tried the clip lasso brush otherwise this is what the fractal looks like in it’s raw state.
Various view of the fractal tool.

Using the clip lasso brush created this from the main fractal

Then Frame it onto the canvas and a texture grab doc then a texture make alpha - top zadd - bottom zsub

Added a little polypaint

The Lost World - using some IM Brushes

really interesting experiments…i’m curious to see your progression

LVXIFER - I’m not sure where this is all leading to yet but having some fun working with the fractals as 3d objects in ZBrush.
I finally figured out a way to make the fractal into an IM Brush as the org fractal is about 500mgs (pushing the limits of ZBrush
and my computer RAM wise but first I deleted all hidden points and that alone brought the file size and poly count way down.
But still to large for an IM Brush (that is because I could only apply just a few without running out of memory - I then used the
Decimation Master plugin and finally got an IM Brush of the fractal that allows me to work somewhat with the ram I have.
Here’s and image done with the IM Brush over the ztool.

I’m thinking your fractal FX would be cool for caves ,back grond effects.
Maybe get smoke, clouds, fire, water effects with them also.maybe a tornado.

Fractals that look like smoke, clouds, fire, water an tornato etc - that’s a good ideal.

The Artifact

RorrKonn I started with the fractal (in post 166) and on the cave ideal started carving away from the fractal and came up
with these ztools from that fractal so far.

zBrush Gallery’s are some of my fav Gallery’s.
I did notice in the zBrush gallery’s you don’t see a lot smoke ,fire ,clouds ,etc etc.
I’ve never seen a cave like yours very cool.
The bottom right , it could be a tornado with clouds on the top and debris flying around the ground.
Takes a lot longer to model a destroyed city block then a nice one
Probably why you seldom see in any gallery that has a lot of devastation or destruction.
I Defiantly half to learn your fractals.

RorrKonn - I see what you mean about the elements and their power such as the
twister swirling out debris - the effects of clouds by a bas-relief of them on a plane3d-
and the chaos of fire and smoke. Element Chaos.

I have started putting some of the tools together to create a scene. The round base is to
have something to create on then that (the round base scene) can be added to a much bigger
scene. I am also using nick’s SmallRocks IMM Brush.

Update on the progress of the cave fractal - I have also added some Celtic runes onto some of the stones added
some whales to give the structure size and to see if I will go in the direction of an underwater scene. An added a
clipper ship somewhere.

really interesting videos! The last 2 in particular…

Nice that you found some of them interesting.

Taking a break from the hobby table working on that undersea diorama

marcus_civis’s Pixols To 3D plugin for ZB4r4
marcus_civis (modest statement)

This plugin will convert a 2.5D canvas into a 3D by displacing a plane. This means that BPR renders can be used and additional detail can be added through subdividing or using HD Geometry. It’s a very quick way of starting off an environment.

plugin here

Some excellent art created using the plugin here by Francesco Mai

If you haven’t tried this plugin yet - give it a try
post your images here if you like
did I mention the ztool created is in QUADS - give it a try

Here’s a few examples I did testing it out

Your fractal stuff is blowing my mind, I can’t get Mandelbulb to even run on my computer for some reason, I think the video card maybe.
Anyway its VERY cool stuff!

Thank You MealeaYing:)

I’ve been working on this fractal - I won’t be able to 3d the fog areas but I’m working on seeing if I can get
the branches and the lime green color foreground colors into a 3d fractal. I can then bring it into ZBrush and
using Marcus’s Pixols to 3d plugin draw it out then use the image rendered in MB3D as a ref to add detail onto
the plane3d.
