This is stunning work!! You should make prints of these and sell them!

Sean

Thanks Sean -
I think they might look better with a background of a solid color or a textured antique paper - working on backgrounds
any one you like best out of the materials used?

Here’s a section of the Celtic Mask detail (seems to flat with screen capture - edges not as clear)

pajarony asked on this post http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?103320-Now-Im-having-fun/page53

how to create the wire letters

As far as I know this is not the way LVXIFER or MealeaYing - but it is one way to do it.

  1. Fine or create an alpha (at least 512x512)
  2. Bring that alpha into ZBrush as an alpha
  3. Now create a Shadowbow Box at 512 res and go into edit mode
  4. Use ctrl (on pc not sure what Mac would be) and click on the stroke button and select Rec
  5. Use ctrl (on pc not sure what the Mac would be) and click on the Center button
  6. Draw the alpha out in Shadowbox
  7. Go to Tool > Geometry > Shadowbox and turn off Shadowbox - you should now have a letter to work on or with
  8. You should still be in edit mode - make a polymesh of the letter and in Tool>Geometry> Delete Lower if need be.
  9. If you do not know how to make an IM Brush go to the this thread http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?170167-Insert-Multi-Mesh-Repository/page8
and download danko75’s IMM Brush (post 120) and within that zip is a brush named tubesinsert and load it into ZBrush and leave it at the default setting.
10 Go to draw size (this you can experiment with) but to start try about an 8 or 10
  10. Click Frame to center the letter onto the canvas - NOTE if the letter is not centered use Shift (for pc) and drag anywhere on the open canvas to get it correct
  11. this is for the flat surface drawing of the IM Brush - just start drawing some squiggles line onto the letter - careful not to go off into the canvas.
  12. Go to Tool > Geometry> Modify Topology> click on WeldPoints
REPEAT STEPS 12 and 13 until you like the design
  13. Go to Tool> subtool> Split> click Split to parts (note if you have gone over 1,000 subtools you will need to use the Split to Similar parts)
  14. go through the subtools and find you base letter (that would be the one you created with Shabowbox) and delete it.
  15. You should now have a wire type letter.

NOTE FOR MAKING THE LETTER HAVE MORE DEPTH TO THE 3D AT STEP 12 DRAW ALL AROUND THE LETTER INSTEAD OF ON JUST THE FLAT OF THE SURFACE.

Here’s quick example of this technique

Very cool! I did something similar in an earlier version of zBrush with zSketch and radial symmetry. Yours is better though if you want one uninterrupted coil rather than a bunch of merged lines.

Wow Fingus that is a nice sphere:)
Would you mind posting a how to on the creation of these type of spheres with zSketch and radial symmetry

Thanks for the comments
Better I don’t know - different maybe:)

Exelente amigo interesante tecnica de simetría

Muy buena pieza amigo

Muy interesante amigo, elementos son a base de alphas?

gasper01 - “elementos son a base de alphas?”
No - used one IM Brush to create the Celtic Mask.

UPDATE TO CREATING WIRE LETTERS

This works better if you have a pen tablet and it would not have the thickness as if you drew around a 3d letter.

Draw out a plane3d go to edit then click Frame and make it a polymesh use your pen and draw out your squiggle letter using the IM Brush mentioned in the post
then follow steps 14 and 15. But in this case delete the plane3d from the subtools.
