Snake girl (bust)

Hi all! This is my 1st post in this forum, and I thought I’d say a few words before I spam you with my unworthy pixolmongering…

First, hats off to everybody here. The visual quality of the work displayed is stunning!!!

Second, many thanks to the guys behind this crazy thing called Z BRUSH! A tool does not make an Artist, but one can recognize an Artist behind a tool and this one has definitely Masters behind itself! So, ROCK ON!

And now my 1st semi serious work in Z. I’ve been drooling for a while over the things ppl do with it, and, finally decided to try to do something myself. Had some training sessions a while back, got some advice from here and there and at the end:

This is just a WIP. And I though I’d go with something simple… Comments? Suggestions? Be my guest!

Cool Cobra Chick, Excellent first post too. The only thing im not really diggin is the shape of the “cobra fins” i dont know what you call them. But it seems to me that they could be a bit more flared out. Either way its an excellent sculpt. keep up the good work.

Palying some more on the weekend… who knows, might even finish it!

Oooohhhhh! Does she spit? Some potenetial with this character, should be fun watching the progress.

Hey hey hey!
Nice first post man!

Looks pretty good so far!

My advice: next time try using the zspheres buddy

Some more weekend fun. Brough in the norms and the disp maps in Max played a bit with the Materials. Think will start working with the textures soon.
Now I need to learn how to bring in those extra textures in ZB so I can put in the pores and the extra little details. I know one can do it with Photoshop as well, but is seems to be more fun with ZB.

naked snake girl and a beer, that would be one cooll weekend :stuck_out_tongue:

Your execution is good though I have some questions about your artistic choices. What is the origin of this character?

And one suggestion, to make her look more poisonous you might give her slit pupils as those kind of snakes usually have. I was very surprised when I got down to the one with the eyes and the pupils were not slit.

Thank you for the comment. As you can see this is still a work in progress, so the slith eyes are still a choice that I may take. As for the origin of the character, its one of my own concepts that I had for a while

There is more of them on my web page. Female and male versions.

In the drawing the character looks considerably more human. (Very nice drawing, by the way.) One thing that I often wonder about when making large reptiles is how to approach getting the surface quality of scales in a way that is realistic. In your drawing you approached this by drawing the scales in proportion to the facial features similarly to those on an actual snake. The snake of course has a much smaller head and therefore has much smaller scales, but the scales become enormous when you put them on a human-sized head.

In many modern concepts of dinosaurs they seem to avoid the issue of scales altogether, except on the feet, and instead they make the skin resemble modern mammals with tough skin, elephants and such rather than like alligators.

To get back to your drawing, I note that it shows a larger cranium and a more neutral expression than the model. The cobra hood looks more like an analagous structure to a mass of hair than on the model. The overall human look goes better with the round pupils. The model however is more of a monster with breasts. Were you influenced at all by the Snake Man monster from the movie “Dreamscape?” It was kind of like an early 80’s version of “The Cell.”

Ehh… considering that in the 80’s I was livng on the other side of the “Iron Curtain” I don’t recall seeing “Dreamscape”. I admit that the model is not exactely what the drawing is, but than thats what often happens when you are working with your owns consepts. They keep on changing. Sometimes its good and sometimes it ain’t. At this point I think the model is closer to what I had imagined as a “snake” woman. We’ll see how it comes out once I throw in some textures.
Thanx for the comment

Well… finally got to work some on the snake. Just the duffuse maps though.
No specular no bump yet. Thats why it looks flat :frowning:
Gonna nail this sucker :D!

Thats realy coming to life. Great concept.

Nice, now I am starting to like snakes haha.

I love how the eyes gloss, I still have to work on my eyes. Great stuff.

Thanx gents!
Making some specularity and secondary bump tests here… Dunno if I’ll keep like this though.

Ahem… I am not too sure about this. Although I do appriciate the input, and I sort of get what you are trying to say. May be the next one

I think I am coming to completing this thing… Unless a sudden epiphany comes upon me I’d say this is about 90 % done…
