starting the actual texturing process now. Here are some shots from color textures. Body is done, as is face. Boots and hands (which are on the face layout) still need to be done. Then its on to Spec, Normal, and SSS maps.

These are Maya screenshots with just a Surface Shader (no lighting or normal map here).

I like your figure but I do have a few thoughts:

When I first saw your figure I thought that she had bells on her head. I was wondering why they were there until I read a post that said that they were her eyes. One of the main reasons I thought that they were bells is that you gave them a metal texture (gold or copper). I suggest you give them another color that looks more like eyes. Also I was wondering, why would you have eye depressions (on the front of her face) if there are no eyes there? Finally, the position of the eyes seems strange. She would have to constantly turn her head to see forward. If you moved the front eye to the left she would be looking more forward. Plus it would be more in line of a real flounder’s eye position. Otherwise I think you did a great job.

THIS **** IS GETTING WEIRD.

I really like the whole costume style here but what I love the most is the red frog weapon in her hand

Some nice materials and lighting and this piece would look sweeeeeet

thanks! Yeah the whole thing is still just a surface shader with AO since I haven’t exported out my normals or made spec or sss maps yet. Those are coming soon.

Well, here she is with my full lighting and materials setup. I’m pretty happy with the results!

Ok 3d community, I know this is Maya related, not Zbrush, but I was using this head as a teaching example for my classes. I have made a demo on using the Mental Ray MISSS_Fast_Skin shader for maya, and how to tweak and render with it. Here is that link for your reading enjoyment:
