slocik Sketchbook

wicked slocik :D:+1:

really cool models!
Keep on going man, you have real talent !

a quickie for today, im not really liking it, feels a lot more generic than what i planned to do
also added some more details to teh demon, dunno, i feel im just forcing them in at the moment, or maybe is should really go into details on it, dont know

The demon is awesome!! The ape like creature has something wrong with the posture imao, it feels like it’s going to fall on the back, maybe the legs are too small and a bit too forward to make it stable. It has big arms, that must be heavy, but if you try to pose like that with some burden in your hand and relax you’ll fall with your ass to the ground XD

teh demon looks cool , the details are really nice . The quickie just needs a change of pose , overall feel is good.

ok, i will play around with the pose
Dantert- about the weight distribution, actually about 60% of his body mas is in from fo his legs, but maybe i will push it more and give him a bigger curve on his back, i wasnt atcully basing it of a monkey, but i guess it looks somewhat like one ;D

Probably you’re right but I still feel that voice “OMG it’s falling!” XD Maybe it’s the fact that is seems not to be leaning on the arms but a lot on the small legs.

someanges here, some changes there, call it done, i need to do something more interesting

I love this model concept but, in my opinion, it’s haunches should be moved back a little and beefed up. Looking at the profile screams at me too. Make a black and white silhouette to look at so that your eye doesn’t pay attention to the details but only just the overall profile shape. Seeing it that way can maybe help you to see what some of us are seeing. Though, to play fair, I am not saying it’s bad. Its a gorgeous sculpt. I have yet to make something that clean and well defined. It’s just…something feels off. I noticed it’s heals are off the ground as well and that really adds to the situation.

Hard to explain so let me show you what my brain wants me to see. =) I think this will make what I am trying to say less confusing.

This is what my brain wants to see to justify the straight back you currently have as well as the heals being up.
Thought about it when I saw the cute little tail bone in the back shot. Excellent back and shoulders BTW.

Hope this helps explain things better and cheers,

PS - Sorry if Frankenstein-ing your modeling in Photoshop offends. It’s just sometimes, pictures are better than words.

Man, im pretty sure i made thsi post before, but maybe i forgot to press post ;D
Thanks a lot Mahlikus, the pointover is awesome. I actually was planning on adding a tail from the start, but as i worked on it i lost a bit of interest and it devolved into that tiny stump. Also zbrush crashing 4x while i tried to extrude geometry and freeze details didnt help ;/ I also had a similar pos ein mind, but i got so lazy its insane, i didnt wnat to resculpt parts to fit after reposing, so i left it at more straightened one. Heres a version with small tail based on your curvy one, i really like that one.

And alwys i try to use siluete and flat color when sculpting, i get horrifieing results after going back to 3d, dont know if its just me. Sure i will make something fun looking form sides, but once i go back full view it looks like i just randomly streched everything out, or maybe im not used to it.
Maybe i will even repose it and detail up tomorrow ? I have this problem if i wnat to leave his skin smooth, or add alot of wrinkles bumps skin folds and mess up the smooth look.

Wonderful sculpting. I love them.
:+1:
I wonder how they look under a decent GI renderer though.
My concerns… A precise sculpting under a real light, or the closer possible to this.

what ?;D
I could make a proper gi render in modo after decimating. But what do you mean by concerns ?;D

something more i started, based of tali from mass effect and i image i saw floating around for the head, sadly dont know who made it
anyway, playing round with proportions now, kinda stuck at the face

cool anatomy but i hope shepard didn’t take off her mask. ) have you intentionally moved heel down compared to the concept for more human-like look?

yeha, i didnt want another “lol trijointed leg” guy, i make too much of those, but i will work on teh fet soem more, maybe give her some more meat on legs, and bigger boobs ;]
And come on, she dosnt look that bad ;D Once im done with the head it will have much nicer flow and smoother look, something more “pretty”

A bit more in this, and i have no idea what that second thing is supposed to be, really what am i even doing there ;f
