skull w.i.p.

For the moment the skull looks like a cross between a very young, or a very old person
The angle of the mandible looks like that of a baby but the form of the mandible looks like that of an old skull…the nasal cavity is small as a child’s, but the skull
has no signs of the gaps of unossified bone
…it’s a sort of hybrid skull
I used Silo to fuse the zygomatic arch into the temporal bone.

So far the modeling is quite superb and looks like it will develop into a fine picture. I know you have lots to do yet but keep it going I’d love to see the progress on this one. One thing I would change at this stage is the texture, it looks to much like leather and not bone, I think you may be closer to what you want by just changing the texture.
Anyways well done I like this image and will call back here to check the progress

thanks willog, i made a sort of bone texture
but i posted the skull’s with a wax like material because…well, i just like the
shiny wax look i think
But just for you i post a skull with a more bone-like material,i’m not sure its the same skull or a slightly altered version

Really great model! The child like proportions and withered “old man” jaw give it a very alien feel, wonderful! I love both of the mats too, you wouldn’t care to post your settings? - Baz

Great modeling!
:+1:

Skulls are always tricky to do but they are a great way to learn anatomy. Yours is very well done. Keep posting your progress

I’m a newbie and have lurked for a while here, quietly learning from the masters! Superb modelling and texturing!!
Are you going to add suture lines_ I think they add to the coolness!
Watching with interest!

Skulls are tricky indeed, think i took it to far, i have to retrace a few steps, still
i like this image because it reminds me of the skull’s found on Vanitas painting…very ancient and battered !

It’s really look like. Awesome work ! :+1: :+1:

nice modeling…great job

…To Ze or not to Ze…
  excelente trabajo :+1:

Still working on my skull, i’m not sure abouth the angle of the mandible ?
to this moment no texture maps , no projection master ,only one material
in various settings. Could not resist in making a simple scene  SCHEDELSCENE03.jpg

Nice works! :+1:
I like the bone textures.

I have been using projection-master for this little test, no bone material ,just
a fast shader and texture maps…i could not use the bone- material with these
textures because the texture-map could not be seen together with the bone-material !..i dont now why?..perhaps because it’s a 4 channel shader ???
this is a w.i.p. so the textures are not as in life, or death, in this case:) test.jpg

good to know this guy didn’t have teeth problems …
I do too like the material settings on all of them, specially that blue touch:D

diff’rent skull…diff’rent texture maps !!test04.jpg

Hi Jantim, your pics get better and better. You’ve done a wonderful job on what I would consider a very difficult subject. 50.

Thank you 50’s kid,

I’m afraid i’m a 50’kid myself:D
This is a render of the jaw and the texturemap !test08.jpg

And a close-up with a waxy material! ( i’l post afinal rendering later ! )
