skull w.i.p.

waxlight.jpg This is the waxmaterial and light set-up
Hope it all works !

I’ve reloaded the material & the light…if they don’t work let me know:o

Hi JanTim,

I just want to compliment you on your work with the skull; absolutely great modeling. I’m new with ZB (just purchased the Mac 1.55 version- but wait with experiments when the 2 version will be released) Till now I’ve professionally worked with Cinema4D, Strata Pro, Amapi and Bodypaint3D (for UV Mapping) for 9 years by now and very interested in Z-Brush. Your work inspired me a little further; thank you for that!

Greetings from a very hot Netherland,

Rob

Thank’s Rob,

I bought the 1.5 version just to use Zbrush 2 , and i was just as inspired by
the great things i saw people do with the beta version:D
But be prepared for re-learning a lot of things if you use Zbrush:ex:
The way materials work with light was for me totally new, just as the way
shadows look in Zbrush ! Not to speak of the way scenes are put together!
But i’ve never been as productive with new software as with Zbrush:lol:

As you can see on this picture the detail of the texturemap is not as clear on
some materials, as it is on others .

You have to keep in mind that each material has different settings that might affect the look of the texture. Compare the color bump of each of your materials and check other settings to try to get the results you want.

For the moment a schedel04.jpg new rendering

Thanks Jantim, for the kind ’warnings’

I’m especially interested in the 3D modeling detail effects from ZB2 (as can be seen in the Fish demo, from Pixolator); those are amazing. About the lighting and sceneset-up; I think I will finally export the ZB models back into Cinema4D or StrataPro…

So I think (as far I can see for now) I will use ZB2 for sculpting (and perhaps texturing) features…

Again; I love your Skull modeling, I certainly keep an eye on how this project develops in the nearby future! Good luck!

Rob

Heya, jantim, very, very good modeling, materials and colorZZ :+1:
I like it well…

Reworked my skull and jaw…, the jaw looked to gnarled , more like a
fossil to me
This lookes much better, i’m also looking to find a ballance between a material
and a texture ! In this image i only used a material, no texture mapSCHEDELS00002.jpg

The latest model with the “old” bone materials…the nasalSCHEDELS00004.jpg bone is to high

Update on modelSCHEDELS00005.jpg

At first i tried to make a simple scene with 3 or 4 materials…it looked pretty bad  I am still strugling with the light & shadow settings in zbrush !
Then i tried to make a little scene with only one material, just to see how
the lights ,shadows and material interact !
I used the highest values for shadow-intensity and lenght…i wanted to make a picture with a high contrast ,and to use the shadows to bring the scene more
together ( hope i make myself clear ?)
The shadow of the big skull should make a bigger and darker shadow on the
wall, i think !..:o

I think that this is a nice texture for my skull3SCHEDEL01.jpg

JanTim, you did a great job on the textures; my compliments - the skulls looks great! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

All the best,

Rob

Because i want to use my skull in a scene, i’m experimenting with light and
shadow settings to make a nice ambiance with simple props .

I love the still life you have going. I can’t wait to see more.

Thank’s abxy,

This is not an update on this scene, just one of a yesterday’s session !
Just a bigger contrast between light and dark, some light positions cast a
to small shadow, that has something to do with zbrush way of making a solid
3-D model into pixols…you lose what you don’t see, including the full shadow !

scene011.jpg

New scene,…old props,well mostly !
I’ve got to make some objects to make a better scene !

…that is a “Vanité” painting :+1:
