she looks awesome! i do agree with the other critiques, but on the other hand, the eyes and center of the face are such a focal point that it makes the rest work.

i figured as much! so the hair is just planes? 100 of them? yikes… good think you didnt get lazy… how’d you make the shader for the skin and the eyes? textures? lighting? im having a problem with the spec map for some reason… again, great work!! :+1:

Dhyego, you use a black and white map for opacity (black transparent, white opac) and a map for color, and specular. search google, saw a easy to follow video with a leaf.

3DNoobish, yes, but you can easily duplicate and merge groups of planes then mirror and its not so bad, then you just tweak them so its not so symmetrical.

And another question how do you did the eyes? They are very realistic! there’s any SSS map in there ?

here’s a small update, mostly texture, not sure if its a big enough change though… anyways…

AR-MAN, its rendered in mental ray without GI. the eyes are 2 subtools, an outer shell which is transparent, for the highlights, and the inner for the actual eyeball. and yes the eyeball does have sss.

Yarim, thanks, Its part material on the head, part opacity, the closer planes have an opacity map with thinner hair.

Here both arts looks awesome. And very much fantastic. I done same artwork, but it is in green and red colour, and It not looks good better than your art, I am very appreciate to you because you shared a good colour for my art.

Ambient Occlusion will help to sell the contact with the hair a lot more… Even now it looks great but the AO will definitely help!
