hey all, love this forum, super inspiring! Here’s something I started on recently in an effort to learn, push, evolve myself, and hopefully find a job doing this sorta thing soon.

All of the modelling and textures done in Zbrush.

I still don’t think its totally finished, so if you have any comments or constructive critiques that might help me, lemme know!

cheers!

Wow, that is beautiful. Only comment I can think of is that the model is highres, and it would be great to have highres hair to go with, instead of alpha planes, plus some variation in texture on the neck. Other than that it looks great.

Fallin’ in love…
Nice job, mate!
The rendering is beautiful, she is beautiful, but what’s impressing me are the eyes!!!
Congratulations!

wow she is hot :grimacing: :+1:

I think it looks excellent.

For critiques, give her a bridge bone in the nose. Her hair is quite stiff, its being
pulled back, maybe give her a hair clip and add a little more gravity. Then
theres just a few little things left over like the hair line blending. Theres also a
split in her bottom lip in the middle which looks a little like a cold-sore.

OMG :grimacing: definitely TOP ROW quality :+1: …she looks like that Twilight chick?

that looks great!!! looks like bella haha!

Mate, if you can’t get a job doing work of this quality there’s little hope for the rest of us. The only thing that grates a little is the edge at the hairline. Maybe if you alpha that in a little it’ll disguise it. I’ve personally nothing against the hair at all. I think it works really well other than that line. It does look like she’s got gel or hair lacquer in it. Like its very thick, and matt. But I still like that. Also her neck and chest need a bit of work (I wrote that 5 times and that was the least dodgy wording!). Her nose feels a little thin but then if your reference has a thin nose then its fine. I like the believability of her imperfect bottom lip and her eyes are just dreamy.

Out of curiosity what’s she rendered in?

Very pretty face! Reminds me of an actress. The bridge of her nose might be a bit too sharp, though.

This is just a lovely bust…! i love every part of it… would you be able to share your maps and shader settings ? that would be totally awsome…

looking very nice:+1: yeh she well looks like that girl from twighlight.

She looks great man - awesome work :D:+1:

Yeah, that’s who she reminded me of: Kristen Stewart.

Great work… couple suggestions I’d like to make.

Inner eye, tear duct area. Seems like the tear duct to covering too much of the while of the eye. (could be the shape of the pink fleshy area).

Between the lower lip and the chin is a dead zone. There’s currently no detail or any description in that area.

Hints of anatomical structure needed around eye, nose, mouth features. (example would be brow and forehead structure) This will help ground the excellent facial features onto the head.

Great progress. Keep at it!

I agree with the above comments. The face is solid, the eyes are great but that hair needs to be fixed. If you do continue to use alpha cards then they need to conform a bit more to the over-all hair style, right now you can easily see each card in the hair.

this is amazing. I love the render’s soft lighting. I don’t often look at Rembrandts work, but in my foggy memory the lighting style and flesh tones remind me of it.

Is there two specular passes on this material?

I need some hair tips, can you share your workflow?
I really want to know how to put hair using 3D MAX, i’ve been fighting against Hairtrix for the last 5 days.

vikramvr, thanks! i understand about the hair, but i just couldnt find the patience to spend the time on using other highres methods… agree with the neck and chest also, but i made the UVs around that area so freakishly small that small details become huge blobs haha.
thedust, Thank you!
Daemon3d, thanks!
SadamHu, thanks, I tried to incorporate some of your critiques in this latest version.
sleepy dragon, Yeah! haha, i don’t think its totally her likeness yet but its close… thanks!
3DNoobish, thanks, thats who i was aiming for, its almost there…
zogthedoomed, Thank you, Shes rendered with mental ray, no GI, yet… thanks for the crits i tried to work some of those problems out… the neck and chest have terribly small area on the UV’s. i might put something around her to cover it.
Webhead, Thanks sir
Vindicate, I used some settings i found in a thread here about sss in mental ray… just search youll find it. maybe ill put the maps up later… thankya
LeoAMD, right on!

  • FoOD -, thanks! love your stuff!
3DLam, great thank you, i tried to adjust some things, might keep at it…
Mrguy, thanks im workin’ on it!
nwargasm, thanks thats a great compliment! i love Rembrandt, yes a spec map for the glossyness of the lips and around the eyes, and an overall spec map
Dhyego, yeah hair can be a pain, what i did was create a plane in zbrush, uv map it, poly paint on it to know which side is up and down, duplicate and start adjusting it over the head, a hundred times… haha

cheers
