Sketchbook Part 2

Hi Framedworld…
Really nice gesture and mood/feeling in this last one posted…:+1:and right from the get go too…can’t beat that,…because that’s what it’s all about, and always has been what it’s all about…

the lovely ice cream is hilarious! i love it!!
and btw: awesome Beta-Thread!! one of my favorites! keep up the good stuff!

These are beautiful sculpting. Thanks for sharing them. :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

what a great roughing in of forms. a classical piece newly invented. i am looking forward to see how you will develop it further

nice speed sculpt! The forms read really well!

SpiritDreamer: Thank you SD, I’m glad you like I hope you’ll still like it when its done :stuck_out_tongue:

wethand: The ice cream is on hold but I hope to finish it. And thanks everyone on the beta really did some amazing stuff.

michalis: And thank you for viewing them

kokoro: So am I haha

Katonc: Thats great to hear!

I’ve been so bust as of late, I’ve been working on some new projects I’ll be uploading soon.

It seems dynamesh has awoken a lot of artists…almost makes me not want to post this  such amazing talent on this site.

well anyway I found some time in between some things to define some more shapes on my thinking man

I know its not hyperly detailed like some of the new stuff coming out, but I like the roughness so far. It’ll begin to polish up as we go, theres still a ton left.

your sculpt is coming along nicely…
don’t worry about not having detail… i will not speak against detail, but form goes first.
and if form speaks, as your sculpt does, then adding too much detail would kill it, imho.
add detail only when you feel your sculpt needs it to better explain what you want to say with your sculpt.
yes there are sculpts that require lots of detail, and look great with it, but
as i “read” your sculpt (and i might be wrong of course) you dont need high detail… just food for thought…

you should do an alternate version where he’s pooping… J/K, nice sculpt I like the looseness of this, well done =)

@spiderbyte: er thanks?

EDIT: There was a piece here, but It’ll be up tomorrow when I’m done with the rough concept, I’ll see ya tomorrow with my nick de spain concept

Originally planned on doing this earlier buy my first attempt failed when I did a demo for someone, and my file got corrupted :frowning:

This is the second time around, about an hour in this, trying to figure out forms. Almost forgot to do this tonight, been lacking in the sleep department, so thats been a priority haha

The original concept is by artist Nicolas De Spain, he graciously allowed me to use this concept for a sketch.
the original can be found here:

Nicolas has some other crazy pieces on his blog as well be sure to check him out and give him some love

Taking man playing with grass in a different direction, still very much a work in progress:

Seems to be like the Statue of men, in 3x3eyes manga. Great work, nice proportions.

I don’t know anything about manga sorry :stuck_out_tongue:

i wasn’t happy with that last one, so I decided to play with it a little more, I think thats it for tonight. I’ll be doing a few new sketches tomorrow, as well as adding a rough body to the dragon

Nice job on that last image posted…I like the composition…and depth…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)

very nice. i like the new direction you have taken with this piece. and the composition is great too. glad you kept the loose style, it so fits for this piece.

I didn’t like what I was doing with that last piece.
It was mostly due to me being drained creatively and forcing myself to make work. So I took a break for 3 days, and now I’m starting to get back in the flow, nothing like my old output on the beta, but still something.

I was playing with De Spain’s concept, adding a body. No hind legs just yet, haven’t decided what they’ll look like. I have an idea for some protrusions from his back.

My birthday is in a week…

I think I’ll be starting a new sketchbook because of it. I wont be posting everyday either, theres no point, I’ll focus on my sculpts.

the next part of this doodle might be on a need thread who knows.

did a 1 hour lunch crunch, vid will be up soon (I recorded it :P)
Did a couple of variations of him here’s one of them
