Sketchbook Julian K 2011

Beautiful; all your works express glimpses of something profound (to me at least) about the human condition… there is a beautiful pathos and often surreal nature to them, haunting… why are you not on the top row?!

You’re right, the changes make this piece even stronger, those hands are awesome; subtle pose, great detailing and superb coloring. Love the textural richness of the skin on his head: so many layers to read when you look closer, yet perfectly combined into one strong composition. 6 out of 5 in my book… ! The one shot renders are :grimacing: … .

Freakin` finally top row!

Julian?..please…spill the beans on your zbrush render settings…awesome

and…excellent choice of background

Wow, congratz man, TOP ROW! :+1:

Champaign, not just some beers now!
These hands are a legend anyway.

And guess what, we can vote again. 5* from me then.

Congratz for the top row Julian, this is a well deserved one

Congratz!

woah! what a nice surprise late in the evening

I must admit I’m really happy about this and - as odd as it may sound- much less for me than for this little guy who became very special to me, almost as if he was a real person I had to take care for. I guess he’s found his place now and I can let him go

RawSunlight - Thanks so much for your kind words. I guess your question is already answered

Etcher - Thanks a lot man. you know… always very appreciated
Silvaticus - Thank you. will you please go further with the ‘Dead Man’ ? still waiting for it

ministerart - I will gladly spill the beans in the next few days. I suppose you are asking about the one shot instant render settings. the settings are actually a mix between render settings and how to set up your shader/material. the rim light that you don’t get that clearly in one BPR render go comes from the material. one shader slot in a tri or quad shader is solely used for that by setting the Fresnel in the shader mixer to +100 which pushes any light reflection to the back. Anyway I’ll post a how to, but meanwhile you can check that part out in the stone shader I posted recently in the 2010 thread right here.

Santis - tack så mycket

michalis - thank you Michalis. Can it be just coffee instead or at least Retsina ( yeah I actually do like Retsina )? I’d really prefer that

BUSNISMANPATRIOT - Thank you man. I noticed you got quite a thing for expressive hands too

zber2- Thank you Sir. much appreciated.

Bomoh - Thanks a lot. Love the Joker-Jack.

Manzarek - Muchas Gracias. What’s up man ? haven’t seen you post in a while. Looking forward to new sculpts of yours.

Congrats on the Top row Julian! Well deserved!

…a Leonard background?

Excellent work!! I’m really pleased for you Julian  I had a feeling that this was gonna go Top row, from all of your input into Zbrushcentral you really deserved this.
Keep up the great work :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:
