ShadowBox: adventures with intricate alphas...

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that things level out for you as well! These are tough times and you’re not alone, so hang in there.

Cheers!

Ahhh, I’ve got so many toys that are dying for your materials. Poor little guys, they’re being as patient as possible. Now how to decide which toy to try the materials out on first?

You won’t have to wait long i shouldn’t think…

They looks very, very cool! And as many of the people in this thread, I can’t wait to use them! Are you going to make a paypal/donate option?

Yes, I will be posting an paypal email link, where, if anybody thinks they are worth it, they can (and i use this word very loosely) ‘donate’ an amount of money.

This will go towards buying a cheap computer system, as I was forced to sell mine to avoid being made homeless… It will also more than likely enable me to produce more libraries of MatCaps focusing on colour schemes and surface types (Gloss/Semi Gloss/Matte etc etc)

I think I have said in this thread before that ordinarily i wouldn’t dream of doing this ‘donate’ thing, as it feels slightly uncomfortable - but, when i think about it, for the 3/4 sets of MatCaps ive done, there has been nearly 30 hours of rendertime as well as the Photoshop / ZBrush work

Anyway, i get really good vibes from this forum - so we will see what happens…

Another Possibility…

Red Edged Semi Matte Resin (Orange Sidelight)

I understand what you are saying, but I think every work needs a little extra whenever possible and earned.
Cash if far from flying out of my pockets but if I can help people around me I do it.

Anyway, make that button big and glowing so nobody misses it!

 Well…its been 11 days since i sent my last email to Pixologic asking for FTP details so i can upload these goddamn MatCaps and guess what ?

No reply as yet…

I bu****it you not, when i say i’m gonna wait a couple of days and either post them in this thread or create a new one and post them…

I don’t understand. Is this for the MatCap Download Library? Or something else that Pixo has planned?

Does it really matter if they are posted here and the MatCap Library? I am sure that has to have happened before. It’s not like you have to pay to download them from the Library.

Why not just upload them to mediafire or whatever?

Agreed.

Another option, Dropbox is free, 2gb starting limit, and has a public area that would allow anyone to download them. You control the content and can remove them at any time. Upload them, leave 2 links…1 to the download and the second to a donate page.

Just a suggestion, but maybe Pixologic wants you to follow the normal proceedure for uploading MatCaps as per the instructions on the bottom of the MatCap Library page. .

Looks like Pixologic won’t answer.

These are beautiful! I love the meshes and the matcaps. I set up my own digital store and it was…way more work than I thought. You could just upload to Amazon S3 for storage and then email people links after they pay you on paypal. Or you could give them away for free. Your call, but the work is amazing!

If you’re still around take a look at CGShare.

Pixologic already has a place to share these set up. That and they are dealing with a release and Sigraph all at once along with QRemesher, new tutorial video and … Bad timing I think.

CGShare and others are set up for exactly what you want to do already.

Nyx702 - No its not for the MatCap Download Library - I dont want them there… Yes, Pixar contacted me with regard to doing something else with them, but they seem to have lost interest…

zber2 - could be, but they contacted me after all…

nickz - Thanks very much, thats high praise coming from a fantastic ZBrush artist as yourself - I think what Im going to do is get the packs ready and just upload them to Mediafire (its free and links can be shared), then just add an e-mail Paypal link if people are feeling generous…

Blaine91555 - Hmm, yes they are busy on the development front I think, but the original email came from Pixologics web design team and they are still updating the website regularly…

Awesome! I’ve been following this thread for months waiting to see if these mats ever went live, I can’t wait to start playing around with them during all of the experimentation with this newest release. Props for following through on this, I’m sure I’m not the only one who hasn’t forgotten about these glorious mats.:+1:

bio-designer,

To state the obvious, you have created some beautiful mats and really cool/fun shadowbox creations, you have definitely inspired a bunch of people here, me included, congrats and thanks!

I would have to say though, after 6 weeks of no word from Pixologic, I believe it all comes down to where this all originally started, with just you, inspiring all these ZBrushers.

We’re not Pixologic, but obviously, if you need something, You are going to see some people in here help you. Hell, tell us where you live and someone will probably drive over to your place to help you get a space on the web somewhere for your mat creations!
