Sand Castle (#Update 3, Final - 121 Welcome)

I just had the sudden urge to do a sand castle last night. I used one of the materials from Pixolator’s MaterialPack for the sand.

If I can make a suggestion though, I think the actual castle texture should be a bit smoother, you know a more patted down sculpted look.

I caould see this in a childrens book. SO SWEET! Charming was the first word that came to my head. Charming and inviting.

Very well done. I can easily see that on a beach here.

The towers with the pointy tops where done with the arrow3d tool and the towers with the Ramparts were made from the cylinder 3d and were modelled mainly using masking and deformations.

I plan to add maybe a crab or two, some shells, some puddles of water around it, a few small stones and a plastic bucket and shovel like kaz-g suggested and a few additional details here and there.

You’re right about the sand looking too coarse, and I’ll have to adjust the material settings to get a more accurate “sand” feel.

its the simpliest of subjects that seem to make some of the greatest images…the simple idea of a sand castle, producing such a vivid piece…and your planned additions I can just imagine…great job WO…and I agree with Kat, this could definitely be in a childrens book… :+1: :+1: :+1: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

super! in fact i like the mat as is (but would love to see the outcome of your tweakings, of course), as i think it looks perfecto like wetted, heavy sand. cant wait for the updates!

Most bein g said - i agree its a very sweet sandcastle :slight_smile:

I would also change the material of the castle to make it differ from the ground. A few touchups, shovel and bucket will round it up (and maybe a little baby king on the north tower :wink: )
