Ryan's ZBrush Sketchbook (Maddam's Standard brush - added page 6)

yay! a new Ryan Kingslien tutorial

ive learned more from your tuts than any others man, thanks so much for continuing the great work!

i was sure it was a photo of a real sculpted one! the material is so realsitic!

Thanks again Ryan, gonna go watch the new tuts now!

“Above is a new render (in Maya) of my finalized female head.”

It says so on the post
anyways
thanks for the tut and congrats on this piece/render, simply amazing. :+1:

This looks like a great thread. Sorry for the noob question but how do you subscribe to threads without posting in them? i.e i’d like to keep a bookmark of interesting threads in my private area here but only threads in which i’ve posted appear there. As a last resort i guess i can use Opera’s bookmarks.

-ps before i get flamed, i have checked all the FAQ section to no avail

What can I do but recommend all your video tutorials over at Gnomonology? You are not only a superb artist, you’re also a gifted teacher.
I got them all, and I’m very happy with them.
The one on the brushes is (at the moment) my favourite.

kewl render! is it mental ray, or maya’s software renderer?

so it does  i was just skimming over the page. thanks for pointing that out Giantsun. (im not embarrased, im sleep deprived)

awesome bust Ryan. Her bone structure is so sexy. Loveable cheeks

Bryan Wynia - Thanks. Glad you like the render.

Nickz - Thank you sir! Can’t wait to see some of your there too.

Leishiy3d - Thanks.

mradamw - Thanks. That’s very cool of you to say. Glad they have proven useful.

pixeldamage - There is a button to the right before the posts start called “Thread Tools”. You can click subscribe to this thread there.

Erik Heyninck - Thanks! :+1:

iatriki - Its a mental ray render using physical sky and a photographic exposure lens. The material is a simple lambert with some incandescence. Perhaps, I’ll do a simple tutorial on that later.

Fabricio Torres - Thanks!

Thanks for all your tuts & stuff Ryan. I’ve learned a ton from your blog. :sunglasses:

A tutorial would be great!

nice render ryan, I taught it was prototyped keep up the good work .

Thanks for the Tut and that sweet brush. It makes life much easier :sunglasses:

hey ryan.

just watched the alpha palettes tut, eagerly waiting for more.
i do have one weeny tiny little request
i got those tuts from gnomonology for sculpting the female bust (so i know you started that completely in zbrush and modelled it all in there). how did you get that sculpt into maya? (i have no real clue about maya/max yet
still learning slowly) so if you could find some time and its not too much of a hassle, could you make like a little workflow tut? as i really want to take the models ive made in zbrush and render them nicely, but dont even know where to begin???

thanks so much man, keep well.

i can tell you right now, that you need to find a tutorial on displacement mapping. scott spencer has posted a pretty comprehensive tutorialover in the tutorials forum. its a long process a little hard to get at first, but its worth it when you can make amazing looking models. check it out

raindog, verze_one, nebular - thanks. :+1:

iatriki - I’ll be looking into it next week.

mradamw and mdale - Having been teaching and dealing with ZBrush and compatibility for several years now I have alot of thoughts on how to handle that. It seems that for the beginner there is more involved than just understanding displacement maps but also a need to understand when to use displacement maps and a context for why one would even use Maya/Max/XSI. I do plan on sharing my thoughts about all of that in a free tutorial.

You’ll be held to that promise!

thanks mdale13.

and yes, we will hold you to that ryan

cheerio

your female bust is very nice ! i like it !

all Ryan, great stuff! congrats.

I picked up the book Blindness by author Jose Saramago the other day and after reading the first two chapters was inspired to sculpt this. Jose Saramago is an amazing author. Very specific about his details and he really draws you into the book’s world.
