Ryan's ZBrush Sketchbook (Maddam's Standard brush - added page 6)

Hello! I have been fairly busy with some new projects to share.

I have a new sculpt that I am doing a [Gnomonology](http://www.Gnomonology.com) tutorial for. The tutorial is not finalized yet. Also, I have a new [topology tutorial](http://gnomonology.com/tutorial/237) that I spent a good bit of time on to provide a clear, concise and real-world example of transfering scan data into an organized mesh.

It’s 51 minutes long and includes an introduction to basic topology tools in ZBrush.

When I get to the real-world example of transfering scan data into an organized mesh I use a simple workflow that starts with SubTool’s Project All and then finishes with the ZProject Brush. I also give tips on when to resculpt and when to get as much as you can from the scan.

The tutorial is designed for people already familar with ZBrush. Don’t forget that the ZClassroom is your best friend when beginning to learn ZBrush.

You may also want to look into Meat’s Intro to ZBrush DVD, as well.

Click the image below to go to the tutorial or click here.

Happy ZBrushing! i cant wait to see the scuplt tutorial! i think alexia is also doing a sculpt project for gnomonology as well, i will certainly be downloading both!
i am going to give the reptopology one a look as well this weekend!

thanks for the info!

I’ll be buying the tut.
Thanks for everything Ryan-

I have attached Maddam’s Standard brush variation to this post. It is a fantastic brush and uses the Standard brushes ability to integrate the Pinch brush into its action.

The standard brush allows this via the Brush Mod slider in the Brush palette. Set the BrushMod slider to something like 30 and you will see that the brush pinches as it builds up form.

Thanks Maddam!
Check out Maddam’s website here.

thanks for sharing ryan!

I do wish Gnomon would finally sort out Paypal. I was told ages ago that it was going to be implemented but they appear to of changed their minds. (got to admit that I corresponded with them for some time about this but I’ve since reinstalled and lost my previous mails and don’t know for sure were we left off).
I’ve not had a credit card for years (got rid of all our debt a while back) and at least Paypal covers most UK banks and Debit cards. And I’d have no objection paying the extra 3%, or whatever it is, surcharge that Paypal charge sellers.

But for now I’ll just browse Gnomonology, watch my shopping cart get fuller and fuller and think up things I can do with the money that I’m not sending to Gnomon.

Sorry, I also wanted to say thank you Ryan for the continued hard work and support you give to zbrush users. You and the many other generous users/trainers have made our zbrushing life so much easier and more fun.

well i am proud to say that i may be one of the first people to complete the series of videos “Sculpting a Female Bust”, and all i can say is ‘wow’
ryan truly has an extensive artistic and technical knowledge of 3D sculpting. the 4 videos were well worth my $12. i will be watching them again soon, and as i sculpt my next busts.

congrats ryan, and i hope to see alot more gnomon vids in the future! truly priceless information!

thanks so much for the amazing tuts ryan. just purchased the female bust vids and the topology vid and im loving watching them. the way you take time out to carefully explain things is invaluable to someone just starting out like myself.

i hope to see more vids up on gnomonology soon!

thanks again mate

Hey, cool. Thanks for the kind words Matthew and mradamw.

I’m glad you liked the project. It was alot of fun to do and you will definitely be seeing more of them.

I’m glad you found them, too. I haven’t even started publicizing them yet. Just put them up their quietly at about 1 o’clock last night.

I may even upload the model itself for the community to purchase with the tutorials.

One of the things I really like about Jeremy Engleman’s lighting tutorials is having the scene file there to analyze along with the tutorial. Perhaps, it would be just as useful to have the sculpt itself along with the tutorial.

zogthedoomed - I hear you. I understand the need and I understand that it will definitely get done. Btw, congrats on the credit card free life.

Best,

Ryan

ryan, i think including a reference file is a great idea (why couldnt you have had it sooner so i could have gotten it :P)

the reason i found out about it so soon is that i watch this thread like a hawk man! its 'triffic.

anyways, keep up the good work man.
cheers.

Hello! I’ve been away from ZBrushCentral for abit but I’ve been busy.

Above is a new render (in Maya) of my finalized female head.

I have posted a making of tutorial at Gnomonology here.

Matthew Dale was cool enough to post a review of it here. Thanks Matthew.

Today, I posted up a 51 minute free tutorial on the Alpha palette here or click the image below to go to it. I plan on releasing new tutorials for each palette in ZBrush as a comprehensive overview of the program.
