Thanks for the sweet videos Ryan. Really nice! Do you plan on making more free videos?

Hey Bitmap - yeah, lots more.

Here is an update of the Thor model.

Sculpted the hands further and added shirt and shorts and ground plane for him. To get the ground plane I used SnakeHook brush with alpha 25 and made small circles with the wacom as I lifted gently upwards. Does miracles.

this is simply amazing! Wonderful work from you as usual and now with tutorial…:+1: :+1:

Thanks for the free videos Ryan - they’re great!

Thor looks good but to my eye there seems to be some anatomy issues…

The upper arm seems to be too small compared to the forearm. Also where the triceps brachii meed the body looks really strange. It’s almost as if the lats on his right side have been left behind & the triceps have broken free to swing round.

Also his shoulders/back are twisting quite dramatically but this isn’t reflected in his hips - which look very straight.

It also looks like there’s a gap between where his hips are and his thigh muscles begin.

Not that I could do any better you understand - just things that lept out at me.

Coming along nicely. Really like that pose.
…and oh yeah thanks for the free videos!

Ryan what I like about this sculpture is your confidence and your progression. It feels like you proceeded according to your plan without putting any bad, untasteful forms that might have occured due to technical issues or lack of artistic choices. The content is not my personal taste but the flow and the shapes are very tasteful(ok this sounded little weird, I meant beautiful :).

I agree on the size of the arm thou. But that happens quite often when you need to stare at the same thing for long time.

Thanks for the no-catch free videos!!

You had best figure out how to incorporate a very cool lightning bolt striking that hammer - at the very least! Other than that, looking very cool!

awesome sclupt ryan. so who would u like to play thor then?

Hello. Gave myself a challenge this weekend to sculpt one figure to completion. Got half way there.

Here are some of the poses I worked out before moving into the sculpting phase:

The pose comes from Prima Ballerina, Polina Seminova, and myself, of course. Man, my toes hurt!

Nattawat_OBBI - Thanks. Actually, this Thor was a dry run. He is a bit static for my personal taste. I will sculpt another one for either a gnomonology tutorial or a dvd. I kinda want to do Odin for a dvd.

AJ Jefferies - Thanks for the notes! Fresh eyes are always great. I’ll look into the issues.

sasquatchpoacher - welcome. Thanks for the kind words.

kursadk - cool. Thanks.

Jason - Thanks! Hope things are going well for ya.

henrysouth - Thanks man. Who to play Thor? Hmm… lets bring back Dolph Lundgren!!!

Best,

Ryan

Wow! That’s truly amazing work Ryan :grimacing: :grimacing: Straight into my inspirations folder .

I hope you sculpt in fingers at some point. Elegant figure like her absolutely needs them.

wow man, very cool.

can see all the muscles on that ballerina fitting together snuggly, i just think the neck is a bit too thick, not sure could b that angle, love all the poses, gj:+1: .

cool model. the texture reminds me of stucco. very cool…

really inspiring work:+1: :+1:

thanks again for the tutorials

The sculpt looks great, but I’m not a fan of the pose. It looks stiff and awkward to me. There isn’t much rhythm to it.

-Dustin

nice sculpting!!!..the face is really looking great at this stage…anatomy is also nice…but i think u’ll have to reduce the width of the shoulder to make her more female anatomically…liked the feel of the clay tube brush…as for the pose…personally i liked the 1st row of poses…

sandro_t - thanks man.

king_p - thanks. you may be right about the neck but i think by just the tiniest amount. will check it out.

loki_22 - thanks. clay tubes brush is good for that.

3David - you’re very welcome.

dustinbrown - Thanks. I am a fan of the pose for the rythm, myself. its kind of a jack knife position and all the muscles are so tightly compressed. Once i get the drapery in I would love to hear your thoughts.

dhruvsm - thanks for the thoughts. I’ll keep it in mind.
