Cool man! I love Thor, well the old version of my youth, but this sculpt looks great so far! Nice to see you trying something iconic and contemporary… Love your heroic proportions idea as well.
Impressive work! And great detailing. I like the wings especially. The hammer needs a wedge driven into the end of the handle (otherwise the head will fly off).
skull_monster - thanks. I can’t wait to finish this and start a female super hero character. I got a model into the studio on Saturday to rough out a pose.
canndis - Thanks.
Marc Boulay - Thank you sir! I will put together a video of it in action soon.
Nightshocker - Thanks for the kind words.
Jason Belec - Thanks! I did a free tutorial on box modeling an 8 head character here too. This goes with the 8 head proportion sheets too. It was a cool class. I hope we do another one in 2 months.
Marcus - What?! Its Thor’s hammer. It stays on magically. Didn’t you read the comics?!

Hey Ryan.
This is your strongest work to date.
He’s come a long way since I saw him last…
Really great job!
Keep it up, can’t wait to see this one all finished.

PS, Still waiting on those dates… let me know so I can start chilling the limes for us
Comics? I was brought up on the original Norse Epic poetry:
The Thunder God went for a ride,
Upon his favorite filly,
“I’m Thor!” he cried,
The horse replied:
“You forgot your thaddle, thilly.”
But I’ll agree the hammer head will stay on by magic.
In honor of the dead and to help those in my Love is Dead contest at the Workshop.
This is a 25 minute sculpt from the demo head. Just a quick Zombie sketch. I’ll have a video of it all up soon.

Using the demo head, that’s cheating. Well, it is your demo head, but still, it’s the principle of the matter.
The eyes bother me a bit however. The asymmetry looks fine for this sort of sculpt, but I would expect the eyes to bulge out more, especially for a zombie, where you would expect the rest of the skin to recede due to general decomposition. I’m honestly not sure how zombies manage to keep their eyes in the first place, but that’s none of my concern.
Twitchmonkey - haha. great reply. I’ll remember to bash their eyes in more next time.

Ok, so I got to thinking about what Twitchmonkey said and then got to playing with it again and what do I discover?!

Wow, it seems I did something, now all the wine I drank to forget about the lack of response to my sketchbook seems superfluous. I will try your brush, but my first impression seems favorable. He seems more malnourished , which I believe to be more appropriate. I mean, zombies do live upon brains, which seem to be hard to come by, at least to a great degree. Hopefully I did something to assist you, it would make this day worth something, which is more than I had hoped for. Best of luck.
I really enjoy the second version. I am glad that you have kept the forms rough and fluid. Some of the strokes are very exciting.
Aye, a lot can be learned from the boldness of your strokes. They grant your sculpt a life that it would not have if you applied them more softly. It communicates a confidence in your abilities, which I think really shines.
Edit: I also tried your brush. Pretty nice. Zombified one of my old sculpts with it:
Every time I see your works I cry  …
How could you do this to me ???
Well, love the zombie a lot, but to me the teeth are too good, is he a dentist before he died  ???
Put a crack, destroyed teeth, take out one, two or more teeth, then it’s a zombie  .
Dunno or it’s just my imagination, may I’m saw a lot horror movies and video games like resident evil too much …
Sorry for my English :o , hope u understand what I mean
Hey guys, I have uploaded some free tutorials based on my Thor sculpt to the Gnomon Workshop forums. Click the images below to go there.

Thankyou Ryan, thats super good, thanks for your time to put these together, I will check them out later on.
hahaha awesome brush dude. when i get bored sculpting i usually just scribble on it and go for a ciggy come back and undo the scribbles. but zombifying it all is bloody brilliant dude!! you should call it ryans bordom defying brush. hehehe.

tez - thanks.
twitchmonkey - thanks for adding that extra incentive.
kursadk - Thanks.
Nightshocker - I agree. all things in their time, though. but i love the dentist zombie idea. In fact, I think you sit down right now and write a musical for holloween entitled Dentist Zombie. It would be all about the plight of something that is constantly decaying but trying to keep good hygine! It would be a fantastic parable for our modern times and making it a musical would add a post modern edge to it, a sort of self-reflective laugh, that would be too cool!
(idea is hereby given to the world at large free of copyright in the hopes that I will be watching a zombie dentist musical in 2 years!)
henrysouth - Awesome!!! I love it! Just what I had in mind.
Ryan
Thanks for the brush ryan, so this is what I can do if I study all your tuts on anatomy, if I get to know all the muscles of the Body and the Face by name and how they are laid out, and thier insertion points and forms, I can make Zombies too…cool.
I think a Zombie challange would be a great idea…it might inspire someone to make a really great zombie movie, Planet Terror was pretty good but I don’t think there was much ZBr in it.
I want to buy your Torso Muscle Tut with audio, but can’t find a link to that, I downloaded the free one thanks a trillion. The rest of the muscles of the body would be fantastic as well. have you got any plans for something like that.
Well I never thought u’ll like it…
Besides, I just said what’s on my mind…
But hey, that’ll great if u really can, n I’m pretty sure u can
D’u think I should join the challenge too ? I think my head is full of ideas rite now… I can draw, not that good, but can’t sculpt, well at least rite now, I’m still noob n still learning zbrush, hopefully can follow u. U r my inspiration
Well, waiting for the next progress :)…
