Redbranch sketch book

I thought is was about time I posted some Zb work.

This is a personal project I’ve been working on over the last few weeks in my
spare time. I wanted to do a bust of Dracula as the classic Bram
Stoker, Victorian gent. A strange, captivating visitor from the East. I’m going
for a very chiseled, stylised look. I loved the art style in Dishonoured so I
guess that’s my inspiration to do something similar.

Good first post and start to your sketchbook. :+1:

Coming along nicely!

Thanks for the kind words Webhead and Lynne.

Super solid work
really like the construction of everything

great bust

Thanks BlackMath.

Here are some creature concepts I did in dynamesh recently. Each one began life as a polysphere. I themed each one on a different sense i.e. sight, hearing, touch etc.

Here is the final textured game res Dracula bust. Hi res sculpt in Zbrush (see earlier post) re-top in Zbrush and Max. Rendered using VRay in Max.
The goal with this personal project was to make a stylised, non-photo realistic character. There are no photo sourced textures on this chap. It’s all scratch painted.
I wanted the texture to look realistic, but also have a painted quality that would make people wonder if the render was a 2D painting.
I gathered ref for Victorian clothing to see how a gent would style himself and tried to get the variation of materials on his clothing, incorporating silks, felt etc plus embroidered patterns (in the styles that were fashionable then).
The bust is just over 15k tris all in.

Some more renders of the game res Dracula bust:

I’m currently commuting from home to London on Mondays and the reverse on Fridays. Luckily I have a laptop and Wacom to keep me busy.
Here’s one of the quick Zbrush sculpts I’ve been working on. A more classic take on Batman, avoiding the armoured versions that seem de rigueur these days. Sculpted from a polysphere, using Dynamesh, with no reference. More to follow…

Another version of the Batman sketch. Mr Wayne.

Another train journey, another ZBrush sketch. A dragon head. Once again, this began as a poly sphere and was then Dynameshed from there. No ref, just bits of dinosaur and other beasties in the memory banks.

I’m really liking this Dragon head, nice work  You’re batman sculpts are really nice too.

Thanks Anthony

Wood Troll sketch

Another train journey Zbrush sketch. I’m calling it a Wood Troll. Nice playing with branches and wood shapes in Dynamesh to create his features. I’ll have to add some foliage at some point.

Another train journey sculpt. Messing with anatomy ideas on a Kaiju type beastie bust. Started with a sphere and Dynameshed from there.

I’d not done anything Orc related for the best part of a decade. So I thought an Orc bust would make a nice Zbrush sketch to do on the train.
Still want to add more skin detail, veins etc. Maybe add a helmet or even a body. Will it actually be an Ork?

A sculpt I’ve been working on in my spare time. Started from a sphere using Dynamesh. Did I mention I love Dynamesh :).
Still lots of detail to add. Might take this through to a game res model or pose him.

Really nice sculpting, love the horns on the Demon and the game res Dracula!

Some more sculpts. Mostly done on the train while commuting. All ‘Dynameshed’ from a sphere.

A couple more speed sculpts I did on the train while commuting.
As with those above, they were both started from polyspheres using Dynamesh.
No ref used.
