Questions & Troubleshooting for ZBrush 4R8

I was also having problems with the wacom drivers ( only detecting the configuration for all other software and not the specific setting for zbrush), even updating to the latest version of the driver didnt work, but following the instructions on this site (http://www.wacom.com/en-nl/support/faqs/drivers%20software/how%20do%20i%20uninstall%20a%20driver%20on%20windows%208%20or%20windows%2010 ) to uninstall the drivers,rebooting the machine and installing the latest drivers it finally works, in case more ppl has the same problems.

@lectoryo Try increasing Button Size setting, text size is bound to it (it only changes once per several ticks):

Q: ZBrush 4R8 Mac Version Live Boolean “Generate Mesh” Does Not Work
A: The Live Boolean > Make Boolean Mesh process is currently unavailable for users of OSX 10.9.5 (Mavericks). While the Live Boolean Preview works as it should, clicking the “Make Boolean Mesh” button won’t actually result in a mesh being created. We are investigating ways to fix this issue, but until such a solution can be implemented the only way to fully use the Live Boolean feature in ZBrush 4R8 would be to upgrade your Mac OSX to the latest version.

Just to confirm that this feature also does not work on both OSX 10.9.5 (Mavericks) and as I have just discovered OSX 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) also.

Wonder therefore until this issues is fixed (if it can be in a patch) that the minimum spec on the pixologic site could be adjusted accordingly.

Noticed that forum member timking in this thread is also reporting that

I have been unable to get Live Boolean to work on an iMac using 10.10.2 Yosemite,

Just a note about windows 10 creators update or whatever its called.
It took out most of my drivers, including Wacom, my external HD and more permanently my Nvidia drivers.
If you are having trouble with your wacom drivers I fixed mine with an older version, the newest refuses to work at all, and I had to completely uninstall them to get them to reinstall.
My Nvidia GeForce gt650m is now reporting “Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)” and I cant get it to work at all.
Some of my early problems with 4R8 were related to this “creators” update which is a bit on the destructive side.

Hi matey, if you’re having trouble reading that text it might be the low contrast and the transparent menu. Try setting the “popup opacity” to 100 under UIColors, and change “palette 1” and “palette 2” to something dark. I find with the thin font it helps.

okay, I have been trying to make lightbox NOT open at launch, but no matter what I do, in the preferences - Zbrush more or less automatically reverses my OpenAtLaunch setting back to on.

This is the windows 10 version.

Am I the only one with this issue?

@Carsten Lind
I had that problem and its now fixed… I honestly dont know why.
When you change things in Preferences are you dooing Control Shift I to save?

@Carsten Lind

You must store config (Preferences > Config > Store Config) to get most changes made in the preferences menu to save between restarts. This works for me.

yeah I know, but its not working…

EDIT: After 5th try, it works… strange

I am also on Windows 10 and the setting works for me. Could zbrush be having trouble accessing your preferences file? Could there be a permissions issue?

[edit] Never mind.

I had to do it repeatedly too, and its like it somehow stuck after a while…

This is a real dissapointment after such a long wait. Upgrade to newest crappy OSX with even more emojis and breaking many of my software, no way!
Hope Pixologic will sort out the problems!

Cheers

Okay, strange issue here…

I have a couple of Boolean subtracts, but some of them seem to be shaded in like a crosshatched mode. Even in solo mode.
There is not turned on any polyframe, I have tried to change material, so that is not the issue. I simply cant get the hatching away… It is as if it is shaded as a transparency with problems.

any ideas ?

@Carsten Lind

Have you activated “Transpose All Subtools” on the Gizmo bar?

If so, this shows subtools that are not a part of the current subtool grouping. Shift-Ctrl drag and release a marquee in empty canvas while in that mode to clear the grouping.

@Scott

You are the best!! That was it!! I actually tried doing that, but I didn’t go back into the move all mode…
So it was driving me nuts !!!

Thank you so much!

Hello!

For all those who display the screen delay is fixed momentarily when I have an operation with the live boolean.

My simple solution to the IMM Viewer issue is to have the “Auto Show/Hide” button on my UI.
Then I can simply turn it OFF ( or ON ) at the click of a button…

Proposals to the developers. This should be corrected:

  1. IMM Viewer - It is necessary to make, that it was possible to disconnect this function, with the possibility of saving in the ZBrush configuration. If developers do not, ZBrush users will drip on their brains until they do it.
  2. I hoped that in the 4R8 version, the developers of Pixologic, all the same, you will guess to make the reverse side of the subtool visible, for example, to show just the grid of the mesh, as it was done in the editor of Luxology Modo, but I was wrong, they did not reach out to.
    All the rest, while satisfied.

I find that that button only works occasionally.
Interestingly its behaving like the minimise button, which only works if I resize the whole window.
This in turn is linked to (I think) the old problem which is sort of fixed, of the task bar not going away, now it goes away, but gets stuck behind ZBrush. I never know where problems are coming from any more, normally I figure that its windows doing something stupid (or horrible in the case of my GPU). But now I dont know and dont know how to find out.|

The IMM auto hide button only works if you have a non-IMM brush (zmodeler counts as an IMM brush) active when you deactivate it, and then of course the setting doesnt save between restarts without script editing.
