Questions & Troubleshooting for ZBrush 4R6 - read first post for P2 Patch instruction

after multiple try it seems that zremesher don’t work with radial symmetry.

take a polysphere, dynamesh it and sculpt a vase with radial symmetry features.

then if you want to zremesh it with radial symmetry on, strange things happen but not
usable topology.

i’ve try several time

zbrush 4r6 on windows7 64.

Try removing the Dynameshing, then click Make PolyMesh3D. You might not need the symmetry you think you do or you have the wrong symmetry selected. I had about half of my object disappear here until I played with the settings a bit.

Thanx for your kind reply, but this is not the point. The dynamesh object is decimated before i zremesh so this is not a polymesh problem.

follow this link and you will see what kind of dynamesh object i’ve done which is the source of my concern.

after a decimation zremesh is just NOT able to do the job.

ZRemesher works with radial symmetry on my system. Using radial symmetry to sculpt a vase along the y axis I switched to the x or z axis to ZRemesh as ZBrush with or without radial symmetry uses the selected axis to determine how to apply symmetry when remeshing.

thanks for your reply.
But this method does not work also for the vase i try to remesh. The 22 vase engraved features on the previous link are twisted around y in a radial symmetry way that is unable to obtain with a plain x or y symmetry remesh method…

thanks anyway

After decimating what is your point count? Maybe you could use subtraction of an outer object from inner object to make the details?

the trimcurve brush ignores symmetry setting. bug??

how can i make it using symmetry?

example, dynamesh sphere, x-symmetry on. clay brush works on both sides. trimcurve cuts away only on the side where i put the curve. so after apply, mesh is no longer symmetric.

Do you really need Dynamesh? I hope you’re on a really low setting. Cut it in half, model away, when finished mirror and weld.

well even if i just take the sphere, make polymesh, click symmetry x, and then trimcurve, it ignores the symmetry … well, when i want use the trimcurve to model something symmetric, it is hard to judge if the cut was well done, when the trim curve cuts only one side. this is not a way to work, i mean mirror and weld. i would have to click that after each cut with the trim curve… making this brush pretty useless :frowning:

You can do some pretty radical things to a mesh w/o trimming parts off. The Std brush with ZSub will push in the verts.

Hi all,

I’m trying to do a turntable test, but when I play the video appears my all ZBrush UI, if anyone know how I can fix this I really appreciated.

P.D. (Sorry if this subject was touched before, I did not readed)

Thanks for your time.

Select ‘Doc’ in ‘Movie’ menu.

Hello, I got some troubles when I add image to doc.

  1. Image hiding after anything i do.
  2. Ghost of my mesh

Looks like you need to use Ctrl + N keys to clear the canvas

clicking on surface>noise will crash my zbrush 100% of the time.

Surface Noise in Z4r6p2 is wildly unstable for me as well . It’s basically unusable. It inevitably crashes or hangs the program either upon trying to enter the noise preview mode, or upon exiting it, regardless of the object complexity. I’m pretty sure I used it successfully in previous versions.

Is there some sort of trick to using this before I have to submit a support ticket?

Thanks! Win7 64 bit.

4R6 noise works great for me - win 7 64 bit. I can even use the frame button - which never worked in any of the earlier versions for me.

nm.

weird, it doesnt work for me no matter what, also win 7 64bit…

Someone seemed upset that I wrote this. Sorry if I upset anyone. I just meant that I have no problems on a win 7 64 bit machine so they probably should submit a ticket.
