I’d say wait, a bit longer… I haven’t gotten an answer to my support tickets and its been well over that time frame. They are probably just swamped dealing with their DB issues…
“There has been an error
Error copying file”
Will from Pixologic got back to me, and following these steps i was able to install successfully. Just diasbling Avast! the first time round was not enough, so make sure to do all these. In my case I also disabled Windows Firewall. Cheers.
- Make sure you are logged into the computer on an account that has full Admin permissions.
- Delete the current installer you have.
- Disable any antivirus software you are running.
(*NOTE: Windows 10 has natively built-in protection software called Windows Defender. This will also need to be disabled) - Disable any download management/accelerator software you may be running.
- Download the installer for ZBrush 2018. I’ve renewed your ability to download. The link you currently have should work. If you did not keep your delivery email with the download link, I have just had it resent to you.
- Run the installer to install ZBrush.
Running into a bug (this was happening in 4r8 as well )
I have a custom ui menu created and assigned a hotkey. Zbrush will sporadically fail to load the menu on startup forcing me to press “Restore Custom UI” to brute force it to load.
ok just to confirm that disabling windefender worked ?!!!?
THANK YOU PIX, MY ISSUE WAS RESOLVED: I submitted a Support ticket yesterday, got one response that asked me to submit items. I replied and submitted them. Now, I’m not getting any response from Pixologic. I even submitted a second Ticket, nothing all day!
I’m trying to upgrade to ZBrush 2018. I own a single user license of ZBrush (for over 10 years).
The problem is my Purchase email is no longer active. my new email is now used for ZBC and My License. or Pixologic ID. I sign into My License and it says I have No purchased product. The Ticket response/handler asked me to submit supporting Items to prove it is me. I did submit these items and No response!!!
please help. I really can’t believe I’m getting no response. Its so hard to see all this content about ZBrush 2018, to own it and not be able to Upgrade.
my ticket ID is
Ticket ID: JPQ-689-12650
Brian, every time you reply to the ticket, that moves you to the end of the queue. Your reply was at 6:30 pm, which we didn’t even get caught up to until about 3 hours ago. But by that point you’d replied again and so we haven’t gotten caught up to you again.
I’ll take care of the ticket now.
If I go ahead and uninstall ZBrush 4.8 will it leave the GOZ Projects folders alone or will that all go too?
Last time I upgraded from 4.7 to 4.8 I lost allot of work as the uninstaller decimated those folders. Not cool. One thing I like about how Adobe does it is if there are changes that are made by the end user, regardless of the folders or where they are located, those folders will be left behind with just the stuff that the end user created so all that info is easily moved over to the new installation.
Let me know,
Thank you for this fabulous free upgrade Pixo!
Richard
Today I happily was able to Download and Install without issues.
It took Pixologic team about 20 hours to reset my account.
After the rest everything went without any problem.
Downloaded> admin’ install> registered using Pixologic site email and password> registered & running.
**
I didn’t disable any of the virus or other software or firewalls.
**
Not trying to make those of you feel bad who have not yet been able to install, I’m just trying to let you know to be patient. While you’re waiting, there’s still plenty you need to get done in 4r8 so, get sculpting !
Good luck everyone
Thank you Pixologic Team
DougE
Ok so I was told to disable any anti-virus software running, and even downloaded Zbrush 2018 again, and I tried that, and yet I still encounter the same annoying error message when trying to install ZBrush 2018.
!!!
Pacific time right? They out of the office after 7pm Central then? Just check back tomorrow sometime? Just asking…
Our office hours are 9 am to 5 pm Pacific time. However, we on the Support team are putting in considerably extra time at the moment. Even with that, we are only up to tickets from 7:00 am this morning. If you submitted before that, you should have an answer. If you submitted after, it will likely not be replied to until tomorrow. And if you’re just submitting now it might not be until Saturday.
Wow thats a pretty good indicator of the volume of problems and tickets you are dealing with, thanks for the reply. It gets fixed when it gets fixed. Thanks! Good luck.
I received a reply from support tonight after writing back in this morning, after my license reset didn’t take. The tech confirmed that the reset had not gone through for some reason, and fixed it himself. Everything is now up and running on both of my computers. Thanks Pixologic!
"Hey,
Anyone else getting frequent crashes when using Sculptress pro? I am getting crashes pretty much after I save, but sometimes just when I click outside of zbrush, and click back. Other times it just seems to happen periodicly for no reason.
Try going to Preferences >> Performance and reducing the Max Threads slider to half what your computer can support. Save the preferences and then restart ZBrush. Does the problem persist?"
It resets this to max - which is 8. Even if I turn off multi draw. As soon as I go to store config, it reverts back to 8, instead of saving.
From rotation of bridging 2 edges on a surface to crazy bridging right next side to another. The bevel portion will invert(same as bridged) the edges so it creates a wild surface that looks like a spiked reverse cut.
i prefer to model in maya but working with zmodeler is something I am going to work with for Boolean as well as creating models of buildings.
didnt have this with 4r8.
what happened to this tool?
“@ lensman888 hold ctrl select empty space on the side and slide up or down it will get it for your”
Thanks, Bradley, but that didn’t work. You did teach me something new to use elsewhere on the Interface, though. I did find the solution as was also supplied to me in my original question above your reply. Once I had done THAT then your solution worked by CTRL-click-dragging a spot UNDER the column. Prior to that I couldn’t get the mouse pointer under the column, of course, because it was out of monitor.
I understand that the licensing and activation for 2018 is completely separate from 4R8, and that you do not have to deactivate 4R8 to activate 2018. What I’m unsure of is if after doing the “upgrade license” and installing/activating 2018 I would still be able to DE-activate 4R8 on one of my current installs and then RE-activate it on another machine. I have my 2nd allowed activation on an old laptop that I will be retiring and want to put both 4R8 and 2018 on a new system…but don’t want to de-activate one of the two current 4R8 installs if I cannot re-activate it again. I need to keep both versions going for a while to stay compatible with files from work, so hoping this is possible. I hope this makes sense. Thanks.
The activation system for 4R8 has not been shut down. There are still studios, schools, etc. that can’t upgrade immediately. You will be able to continue managing your ZBrush 4R8 license just as you always have. We’re simply reducing support for that version to the bare minimum.
Keep in mind that native-format files created by ZBrush 2018 cannot be opened by 4R8.
Just installed last night. Just found out I cant hide parts from polygroups. What is the preferred workflow for a complex character with multi-limbs? Is it better to model parts in sculptris, and combine after? I do notice the performance slowdown on a complex model(even decimated). Any thoughts on this would be great.
Thanks!
You can use masking for that. Or split mesh to different subtools I think.
Hello and cheers for the hard work and the upgrade!
Something weird has been happening while running 2018. Every now and then my cintiq screen cuts to a strange, high frequency, multi-colour noise for a fraction of a second to a second. It’s never done this before, and I’m wondering if it is a glitch in 2018? I’ve just upgraded my graphics driver so maybe that will sort it.
Trying to setup my Cintiq27QHDT + Remote profile (latest drivers installed) on macOS 10.12.6.
Although ZB creates a profile automatically in Preferences/WacomTablett it doesn’t use this profile. Instead ZB2018 uses the global profile. Also deleting the auto generated ZB profile and creating a new one by linking Wacom to ZB doesn’t work here. So one has do edit the global settings instead of ZB’s profile which of course disturbs all other apps without own profile.
Any ideas how to fix?
Maybe related: Installer created an .app without ZB icon here. Instead it uses the OS default icon for all apps shipping without an icon file.
It’s not that ZBrush is using the wrong profile; it’s that the Wacom driver is recognizing ZBrush as the wrong application. I’m guessing that they’ll have to update their drivers to fix that.
Just confirming similar issues to @larvantholos
Mac OS- random crashing using sculptris pro. Not storing changes when changing perfomance threads options in store config.
Hi,
I’ve downloaded ZB2018 successfully and took it over to my offline machine to install and activate it there. Installing worked fine, but on first launch I got three messages showing up. (see attachment, please). I clicked the ‘OK’ buttons and after that the activation window opened so I went on with the offline activation. That worked fine. But I still get these messages on every launch and I can’t find the ‘Polygroupit’ in the Z-Plugins palette. So, I guess this means ‘Polygroupit’ didn’t get installed along with everything else, because of that missing VCRUNTIME140.dll ?
If so , what to do now? Deactivate and uninstall ZB and then installing that missing file and after that installing and activating ZB again? And where to get that missing file?
