Questions and Troubleshooting for ZBrush OSX 3.2, GoZ

Long time away from ZBrush. As a Mac user disappointed by the ZB3 upgrade lag, I invested myself heavily into C4D. Even with the 3.12 upgrade, it just felt like… starting over.

Well this is a game changer. You have made it soooo easy to go back and forth between apps. Thank you, thank you, thank you. (Wipes away tear.)

Now, it’s time to catch up.

had the same issue and it was starting to give me a serious headache,
wasn’t sure it was a scale issue as maya wouldn’t even open the exported obj,
the file just seemed corrupted

still I don’t understand what’s going on with these settings, I didn’t mess with them a single time so are these wrong by default?
how come nobody encountered this during the beta?

The people I’ve worked with have known about the scaling weirdness with Zbrush for years before the 3.2 update. Maybe it’s simply the evolution of such a powerful application, maybe the numbers were kept out so as to not hinder an artist’s creative process. I know other pro’s that have learned to work without having scaling issues when going from Zbrush to Maya/Modo (not me). But regardless the export control is here now to help.

Does anyone know if GoZBrush will be able to work with the new version of Maya right off or will you need to wait till there is a future update? If it won’t work then I will hold off on installing Maya 2010 as their method of licensing changes with this version and will make it difficult to run Maya 2009 concurrently from what I understand.

I ran into another problem. Now that I have the model back into maya, the scale is much larger than from the original scene. It’s as if the units are different.
Is there anything in Zbrush I should be aware of that would change the scale?

I may also set up a macro to resize/offset (in deformations) all my subtools by X amount so they appear properly in the ‘tools -> preview’ window pane. But I don’t work with scenes … so I don’t know.

Just updated from 3.12B to 3.2 for Mac.

It installed a new separate folder into my Apps folder. So I now have a 3.12 folder and a 3.2 folder.

When I open ZBrush 3.2 it opens with a polysphere_1 in editing window. No intro screen.

Is this normal?

Are there any installation instruction available?

I’m guessing that I need to copy essential files like plugins (PaintPro) from my 3.12 folder to my new 3.2 folder.

I think you should read this thread or do a search on some of the questions. I think all plugins need to be for 3.2, not earlier versions. Ztools can open from earlier versions of zbrush, not sure if 3.2 can step back though. On the Pixologic plugin download page, there are all new plugins for 3.2 you’ll need those.

Hi! Don’t know if I’ve missunderstood this, but is there a way to make the “GoZ” script send my ZB created textures (and model) directly to my current project folder (instead of the “…shared/Pixologic/GoZ_Projects…”)? For instance, directly to a shared network folder or to another local project folder?

Or should I click GoZ and then copy all the texture maps manually to my project folder?

I use Cinema 4D on a Mac. Thanks in advance.

Hello all,
I did a search for this but nothing really came up so please forgive me if this is a repeat.

I recently upgraded to ZB 3.2 for MacOSX and was hoping to add on ZAppLink as well. However, the downloads page over at Pixologic says that the latest version (3) is coming soon for Mac. Will an older version of ZAppLink work with 3.2? If so, where can I find it since pixo doesn’t have it available for download?

I really don’t understand what is wrong, as I’ve not seen this problem happen to anyone else.

I created a Zsphere base mesh model in ZB, then sculpted a old woman That i thought was fun. I’m very new to the 3d world, so again, maybe it’s my fault.

Since ZB crashes so frequently and unexpectedly, I save often. The thing is, is that the sculpts from saves 1-4 seem to move to C4D effortlessly…but save #5 - 23 will move everything over to C4D EXCEPT the model itself, or so it seems.

I’ve tried reducing the polycount - no dice
I’ve tried exporting an .obj - No good.

What ends up over in C4D is a blue triangle in the menu followed by the file name, as well as color maps etc…but no visable model.

Heres what i think: either A; the mesh is “bad” (overlapping polygones or something…which I don’t know how to fix or investigate :frowning: )
or B; By converting the model to a polymesh 3d in zb i can’t take it over…

I’d really love some help for my dumb self…If it helps, I can pm a link of the model?

Maybe you could try to scale the model 100x in Cinema because its too small to see?

There is no version of ZAppLink that works with zbrush 3.xx for Mac.
