Hi, same thing here.
Here’s a screen grab with the standard UI.
No web deactivation button.
I have ZBrush 4 and Zbrush 4R2 installed, do you think this myght be the reason for this to happen?
If i run Zbrush 4 it has the web deactivation button
Thanks in advance
Jirka: you can re activate again your 4R2. As it is in our database, a new activation code will be generated, but no new activation will be used.
Then you will be able to do properly your manual de-activation later.
If you are using ZBrush only on one computer, you can always activate the 4R2b, after having done a copy of the 4R2 folder (which will remain active), and upgrading the 4R2 folder.
For those who have the Web Activation button missing, are you all on Mac OSX, or some of you are on Windows?
Hi,the screen grab i just posted is from my Windows 7 PC
Interesting, I thought all the Deactivation issues would be like mine, but no one as far as I can see (after a quick scan).
I have the deactiv. button and can go to the website, but the system rejects my email address as incorrect, it just gives me a new window with “incorrect email address supplied” etc, and I hafta go back and try again. I know which is the right address, but Ive tried twenty times, tried my other (2) addresses, and every spelling I could think of, but no dice. And I know I’ll have no activations left coz my computer has been repaired several times. Last time I ran my time machine, and was running again, but because they had replaced most of the parts, including Logic board, HDD etc, the one thing which didn’t work was Zbrush as it consumed an activation. So I had to wait until next day to get that fixed. It was so frustrating being unable to use it, especially given that I could’ve gotten a crooked version and installed it in half an hour to be running again, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Frankly I felt a bit stupid. No rewards in the modern world for behaving well, but behave like a jerk and you’ll get rich and get your own TV show. Oh yes, I’m waaaay off topic tonight! :)
So I have new activation for ZB4R2 and here it is!

Hi Totyo,
My system is Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit. Yes, I did white out the other folders because there was personal info but it wasn’t relevant anyway. The only thing I did after installing 4R2b was rename the root folder to ZBrush 4R2b from ZBrush 4R2 which I probably should not have done before refreshing the Windows Explorer window, but I am guessing that the patch install would have done that anyway. Well if that folder is not part of the install then I will keep it in the recycle bin for a couple of days then delete it permanently. I did make make a backup of the “ZBrush_4R2b_upgrader.exe” installer on DVD disk. Thanks Totyo!
Simply right-click on the desktop shortcut for ZBrush and choose “Run as Administrator”.
This is the reason for the note in Step 6 of the Instructions. ;)
For people encountering this issue, I have provided instructions in the first post of this thread. Thanks!
Thats how it looks on my mac as well ???
Since my issues have be ignored from the start,
I’ll better remove them.
thanks!! it works perfect now!

Maybe something in your DefaultZScript.txt file that 4R2b doesn’t like?

I deactivated and put the new update in the root directory just as I was told to do but no it says I never had the previous version, it’s as if it doesn’t see it now that it’s deactivated…

What do you mean by Root Directory? Do you mean that you put the Updater in the ZBrush 4R2 folder (which is where it should be placed)? Or that you put it on the lowest level of the C drive?
If you put the Updater in the ZBrush 4R2 folder and you’re still getting that error when you run it, you’ll need to reinstall ZBrush 4R2 because something is corrupted with your current installation of it.
anyone for the shadows problem?
also i noticed that the max depth tollerance slider doesn’t affect the result…
please …
@ Totyo -
There is NO 'Web Activation’ button in evidence… ONLY a 'Manual Activation’ one (for me).
Tried to use that - got to the small online Activation window (with serial etc), but then it wouldn’t accept my serial number …three times!
NEVER had a smooth ride with ZB installs in all these years
and zbrush crashes right after that message.
After some more times trying to start the application, it starts and works until the next start (seems to quit on initializing “Lightbox” - but thats’s just a guess

frank
