Quake Project: Monster Models for Quake Mod

well i noticed the change in your sig but yeah i hear ya. everyone’s yer best pal when it’s free. keep pluggin away my friend. if i ever get mine off the ground… i’ll find a spot for ya! just don’t hold your breath! so far i’m working alone… you know how that goes.

Nice update ! He is getting better :+1: I like the hands a lot…I can see the bones inside

Waiting for more decomposition

Thanks for the comments, this has been a VERY fun project, and a big learning experience for me. But all good things must come to an end, and my modeling work on this project is officially over. I might come back and do some texture work later, but that’s totally voluntary. I’ll update this thread with some of the re-work I’ve done on a couple of models later. for now, though, here’s the final version of the Zombie. Hope you like him.

Really enjoyed the thread bro,
fantastic work

Great Tread!!! Enjoying your work flow and the look of all your creatiors very much! Keep up the good work!

this zombie looks great! waiting forward your next threead

gnarly! so sad this thread has come to an end… guess we’ll have to wait and see what you come up with next! rock on dude!

Congrats on finishing the models, watching your thread has been fun and informative…this thread truly showsoff what a single guy can do with ZB for a Doom 3 Mod:+1: :+1: :+1:

I say, make a post with all your models in one place, that post’d surely deserve to be “Featured”

Waiting for your next ZB model:)

I agree with that! a post with all the model u’ve done for this mod could be great  i vote for it

Hey, thanks a lot guys! Sorry I didn’t reply sooner, but I’m taking a much needed break, and am at my bro’s place. He has dial-up (YUCK!), but I don’t wanna take up his computer time. And besides, I’m on a break!

I don’t see how putting up a post with all the models on it could hurt, so why not? Once I get back home, I’ll see what I can do.

Anyway, I got some other ideas I’m working on right now, and another opportunity to do some work with some fantastic artists (I wouldn’t have to do my own designs, so it would make my job lot’s easier). I’ve also got to email a few people and see about some paying work, as well as get my new demo reel content started.

So as you can see, I’ve got a lot on my plate right now. I just need a bit of a break from it before I get back into things full swing. So, with that little update, I gotta go and help out around the house, so I’ll tlak to you guys later. And thanks again for the comments, they’re MUCH appreciated.

As promised, here’s a pic of almost all the models I’ve done for the Quake Remix project. The couple that are missing are the Knight, which is just a small variation on the Hellknight, and a couple others I can’t remember right now.

As some will see, a couple of the monsters have been changed slightly.

As I’ve said already, it’s been an absolute blast working on this project, and with OBWANDO, who’s been incredible. I don’t think I could have asked for a better guy to work with.

Anyway, I’ve got other things I wanna do now, and one of them will be without the limits of poly counts, and deadlines, and sll that other **** that goes with making game content. A personal, high-res project that I can take my time on seems great to me right now.

Anyway, enjoy the pic, and thanks for the support. ;)

Damn link didn’t wanna work… Second try.

Third try…

Its good too see them all in one place:+1:

Watching this thread had been fun and very informative,I cant wait to see all these textured and kicking ass ingame:sunglasses:

In the mean time,I’ll wait for your next model:)

Alrighty, I have a question for anyone reading this. Has anyone got a normal map from ZMapper to work in the Doom 3 engine? I need some presets cause I guess the seams on the normal maps are not going away in game as promised by some folks in Questions and Troubleshooting forums.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I’m trying to learn how to make a quake model in zbrush. I don’t have the sightest idea how though any tips or tricks you can give me would be greatly appreciated … by the way what format do you need to save it in to import it to quake??? Your model is verrrry good!:+1:

i haven’t seen replica round these parts in some time. think i heard he got picked up on a project. (and hey jer, wassup?!)

i haven’t messed with quake in a long time. which version of quake are you working in? i forget what the latest format is md5 or something like that. you probably wouldn’t want to get a zbrush model into quake though you could use zb to model your base. most people model a low poly in their favorite app and then bring that into zb for detailing and possibly texturing. then export a normal map from zb to use in the other app. animation is also done in the other app. if you’re new to game dev/modding, i’d suggest checking out milkshape (pc only). it’s $20 or so and supports a ton of formats. another one is gmax from autodesk. might not still be available. it was free for a while. there might be usage restrictions on it too. the forum over at milkshape probably has a ton of threads on quake models.

Wow, talk about resurrecting a dead thread  I looked in my email, and saw this notice, and laughed my ass off. Pete is right, I haven’t been here in ages. I got picked up by a group of guys making a game called Kaos War. I’m also doing freelance stuff, and with both those things going at once, I never have the time to post, let alone do personal projects… :frowning:

But don’t feel bad about resurrecting this thread, I was just shocked anyone would look that far back. I’m still amazed people still visit my site, I’m not out pimping it anymore, but it still gets hits.

Anyway, on topic. Once more, Pete is right, and I’m exceptionally glad he spoke up, cause I’m not feeling up to explaining that. Thanks Pete

Maybe someday soon, I’ll have a personal project to put up here. I kinda miss these boards.

[EDIT] P.S. it’s amazingly embarassing to look at these models now… I can’t believe I thought these were good :o

Damn good to hear from you bro, happy you are doing well.
Checked out the Kaos site…very impressive.

hey old friend! these models still rock. i love this thread! knew you’d get picked up and glad you’re doin well. look forward to checking out your newer stuff. bet it kicks! i’ve had that one drawing abe did on my desktop for ages. hoping someday to find the time to model it for him - course he probably already did it!
