Problems with Zbrushd and AMD Ryzen R7 Microprocessor

Recently i own a new Ryzen R7 1700, i installed zbrush as usual but i sadly found that when i move the light it takes like 10 seconds to do that task. Its clearly not a problem of power it looks like a problem of optimization to this new architecture. I can move A LOT of polys thats great, the only big problem that i found was that but it’s insanly annoing!

Did anyone else has a Ryzen to verify this?

I found al over the internet but i only found a Japanese dude who has exactly the same problem

I found out thanks to this that if i disable smt from the motherboard it works as it should but in other tasks the micro lose a lot of his potetial (Like Rendering on Keyshot, it gets more slow with smt off)

I dont know what else to do :frowning:

I am having the same problem, not only with the light, also when you change the materials or use the transpose… :frowning:
I have a Ryzen 7 1800…

Finally an answer!
Oh i didn’t notice that, im going to check! But it looks like a problem of zbrush (like it needs some optimization or something), not a porblem of the cpu!

But it is a real bummer, hope they release an update soon!!! Becouse i bought this cpu for this!

Same here.I bought this computer only for ZBrush…:o

Hello guys,

The CPU its really amaizing, really powerfull! I come from an i5 and the difference is really noticeable! I can move A LOT MORE POLYS! Really smoth, hope they can solve this issue as fast as possible, becouse this cpu is really really good for working! And really good price to performance!

Bushi,do you have problems moving meshes or something like that?ussing transpose for example.
what is your PCU configuration?
thanks:+1:

@Apereira

No i dont have any problem anymore but i had to turn off smt from the motherboard for that, and makes keyshot go way more slow :frowning: , but zbrush now its ok!

UP! :bulb:small_orange_diamond:bulb:small_orange_diamond:bulb:small_orange_diamond:bulb:

hello,

iam also thinning about buying rzyen 1700x and i can’t find any other posts/information about how it behaves in zbrush on the interet.
Are there still problems with the smt?
does zbrush uses all the cores?
and what do u guys think is it worth buying it?

tnx

Exactly this! I have exactly the same problem and i have noticed a siginficent performance drop while dynameshing in high resolution or do zremesher in high res.
I have 1800x
Every other CG software i’m using, works just fine.

Some guys at Pixalogic could reply to this post and comment on that issue, pealse.
Are we gonna get a patch with 4R8?

Thank you.

Yeah we really need a fix for this i bought this pc specially for use this software! Im desesperad! :cry:small_orange_diamond:cry:small_orange_diamond:cry:

Check BIOS and Microcode is up to date. Post to support forum or request support ticket if problem still persists. Some people appear to use RyZEN just fine. So it may be a board or bios thing. Some first release boards had some serious problems.

I didn’t saw anyone who has ryzen that didn’t has this issue, where did you saw people that is using zbrush just fine with ryzen?

I have everything up to date!

Don’t be fooled by the core count of Ryzen, core count is not everything… Ryzen is not much cheaper than an equivalent performance Intel CPU. And Intel released some higher core variants themselves.

Well… any other 2D/3D software i’m currently using (maya/arnold, mari, 3d coat, after effects…) gives a fair performance, except zbrush. Even Internet Explorer works just fine.
And yes, everything is up-to-date. And yes, i checked my power cable, it is plugged into the wall. And no, im not gonna turn anything off from my motherboard cause i need to use other software as well. If anyone is using ryzen without any problems, please inform us. if there is any workaround. Im not yet willing to give up my new cpu, motherboard.

Guys, we really need some comment on this subject.
Either you should inform people that you are aware of this issue and looking for a proper fix OR you are not gonna do anything about it and advise people to avoid new amd processors cause they might not work properly. Otherwise there is gonna be more and more disappointed zbrush users.
And people were hoping for a cloth sim in 4r8 thread. Hilarious. What we get is just more confusing buttons that no man is able to find and memorize from this messy UI. But now there is also a lag. Sorry, i’m annoyed.

@Rauno

Didn’t the update to 4R8 fix your performance issues?

If it didn’t then your best bet is probably a support ticket.

As for new features in 4R8… I’m blown away, but it’s my personal opinion
cheers

I’m really sorry to hear issues with Ryzen and Zbrush. Is there any update on this issue from Support? Would you guys be able to list your system specs? Are you using the B350 or X370 motherboards?

is this still a problem with r8?

Up! any luck?
