Presenting ZBrush 4R7 (Updated with Summit Recaps)

Hey for the question on the menu system, you can do that now. you can load up buttons on the top, bottom, and sides by going to pref/config and turn customize on. you can grab just about any thing by pressing cntl/shift and dragging the button where you want to. i know you can create your own custom menis but im not familiar with that yet.

thanks for helping a brother out!
that said- you can make custom menus, but you can’t put the subtool list in it and have it work properly.
that’s the whole rub, for me.
if i can do that, i can have my interface just exactly as i want it.

Today is the official first day of fall ya know…hmmmmm?

a couple of things for that. if you hit n that will give you a list of all subtools in a floating window. for tools i would use daily, i would use lightbox and set up a folder with those items.

i do use the N hotkey periodically- but the only issue there, is you can’t control individual subtool visibility, the paint on/off or the boolean operators.
i gotta have the whole bowl of mustard… i’m needy, i know!

Do anyone thinks we will get better retopo tools, because zbrush retopo is trash

yeah the only thing i can think of past that is scripting. lol and i think we have only seen the tip of the iceberg. i think there will be changes across the board on a lot of things. the new box modelling tools are i think a single facet to a much larger stone!

Hmmmm… Today is the official first day of fall ya know…hmmmmm?

I was thinking that myself. Not gonna bug for a release date or anything because I don’t believe in rushing greatness, but I’d love to get another little teasing glimpse right about now, if only just to celebrate that we are in the release window.

I like the way you think Loki.

Fall also includes October, November, and most of December so I myself didn’t expect anything soon. I also don’t push the subject of release dates anymore because, no matter what, it’s awesome, it will be here before you know it, and it’s FREE! That’s the coolest part. Also, in my history here, when they would set a release date and that day comes and the new Z was delayed, it always sucked to hear about that. So, I personally love now how they just drop the new updates on us without saying a word. I love the surprise! :+1: Keep up the hard work Pixologic! You Guys are the best!

5 Days have passed and we are all quiet…?

How about releasing the KeyShot plugin so long, seeing as we will have to pay and don’t mind either…? or will it only work with the 64bit version?

I have been playing around in keyshot and seems fine, but what I see on the demo seems to be a dream come true, even less guess work and more creativity…

But in the meantime we’ll keep on guessing what is going to be capable and when…

Thanks for demo and now the suspense, sitting on the edge of my chair, now I know what you guys in the USA mean about the fall, I am about to fall off my chair…

Just a little hint so that I can shift back off the edge…

i’m just thrilled to no end at the prospect of never having to use maya again.
i really only use it once in a while, when i need to remove some geometry or do some edits that were not quite possible in zbrush…
i’ll happily take it right out of my dock and never fire it up again if i have it my way!
couple all this with the marriage of sorts to keyshot and it’ll finally be my one stop shop!

I hope zremesher is changed slightly so it makes loops rather than spirals and can do even lower poly meshes.
That would have saved me a lot of time and stress on a recent job.

i hear that. ide like to take maya out but i still have to use it. fortunately it will only be used for its animation side after this! :sunglasses:

The topo brush fixes the spiral thing for me. Also you can alt click on the zremesh button to get a different style of remesh, (alt or cntrl will have to check).

not relased yet? :frowning:
Can’t wait to kill 3ds max modeling :rage:

Likewise, I can’t wait! Have been passing my time by looking at 3DCoat. I’ve got to say I’m falling in love with it’s Cutoff Tool and the E Panel tools/Splines. The speed and flexibility to create hard surfaces in this manor, is fantastic. I don’t think this capability will be in 4r7, but I so hope there will be something similar in R5 to replace the Trim/Clip brushes.

Anyway, dilemma time coming. Do I spend $379 on 3DCoat? or future cost of R5. Personally, I can’t see R5 being a free upgrade this time. I think I’m gonna need more information on what is coming in Zbrush.

this is me in front of the zbrushcentral site.

-> „are we there yet ?“ „can i has cheezeburger - erm zbrush now

i´m soo excited pixologic team - take your time - you guys rule.

HAHAHAHA… that’s just so funny! Since I’m a Wolffie you can’t see me but I’m down there begging too!

BRING IT ON PIXO!

I’m really exciting for the low poly modeling. I think it’s one of those things that’s really missing in Zbrush and could add alot. That and good measuring tools. :stuck_out_tongue:

What I’m less excited about is Keyshot and the bridge. Mainly because of the maximum resolution of Keyshot for zbrush. (1920x1080) In my opinion any renderer that’s not capable or rendering print quality material is not worth spending money on at all. Also full hd is already the default minimum supported resolution for pretty much any monitor you buy right now and ultra HD monitors will become mainstream not too long from now.

Especially with other renderers in pretty much the same price range it’s wayyy overpriced unless Pixologic/Luxion decides to at least drop the max resolution for this render program.

Octane renderer for example 300 euro. No such resolution limit

Pixar’s Renderman will be 495 dollar at it’s next release and doesn’t have such a resolution limit either. And they will also release a free version for non commercial use without ANY limitations. This means you can use it for your portfolio for free. Even putting material on youtube is not a problem.

So I urge Pixologic/Luxion to reconsider how they want to position this product because now it seems to target noone.

lol i think we are all looking at the monitor the next morning just like that! lol
