Polaroid29's Sketchbook Of Sorts

Aaww thanks David! I appreciate it. I’ve been working hard to get better, so I hope it’s working. Thanks for the continuous support!

Here is a back shot of the same character, Zen! Hopefully some anatomy buffs can help me out a little, things look a little off to me.

Hey all  this is a new cute lil guy from me! This is a quick lunch crunch with the intention of coming up with a fun toy. It’s based on a character I came up with that I would draw all the time as a kid. 100% ZBrush so far. Hope you like it so far. C&C very welcome!

Hey Polaroid, welcome back! Cute little bugger you got there!

Cheers, David

Is it Prince’s tormentor? Give him a watering can and you have purple rain.
Goofy ,wild and fun.:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1: liketh.

I suspect we may see more of this fellow .

@chalkman David, thank you for the kind words friend! I must say, I really enjoy the work you’ve been doing lately.

@boozy floozie I’m under the suspicion that Prince may have a critter or two like this as companions, rather than tormentors :p. Thanks kindly for your comment, it’s quite sweet and much appreciated.

I decided to take him a little further! There is a story a-brewin’ with this little guy, so I decided to give him the figure treatment. There is a button on his back, that, in theory, would make his wings flap

This is 100% Zbrush, with the exception of the render. Dynamesh for the head, dynamesh for the ears, and dynamesh for the grave base. Dynamesh? More like DynaMITE!!@@!!

Did some more work on an old sculpt. Hope you like it!

Very nice! Really love that movie.
I have a model of Lord Barkis I started a while ago and need to finish at some stage. I’m curious how you handled the stripes on his pants, did you paint those in ZBrush? I tried to do it with Barkis but found it very difficult to get clean stripes with the legs being so thin.

Cheers,
Brian

@Horganovski Thank you  it’s one of my favorites.

The stripes were actually much easier than you would think. I didn’t paint them in Zbrush. I created a tileable texture in photoshop of the stripes, UV’d the pants, and then applied the tileable stripes as a texture. I’ll mock something up when I have some time

Thanks for the tip, totally makes sense to do it that way, much more accurate than trying to paint them by hand! I’ll try that on my model too.

Cheers,
Brian

Great feel in this last one! :+1:

@Santis thank you! :slight_smile:

And here is another rework from the same series, my Victoria! I’m hoping to break my way into collectibles somehow, so I hope my skills are getting better.

There is a button on his back, that, in theory, would make his wings flap

This I like. I envisage the flapping to act as a desktop fan to cool those of a Gothic persuasion.

Sweet new additions to the thread. Particularly partial to M’Lady with the umbrella.

kinda Tim Burton style !!:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:https://www.facebook.com/TheNightmareBeforeChristmas/photos_stream

Hey Polariod, long time no see, I have some news  , I’m picking up Zbrush again  , I havent used in like 12-18 months, and I see Zbrush has changed a lot in that time, So I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. but , I can’t wait to get back into it again

Long time no see!

I’ve posted some of these before in other threads, but I decided I’d like ressurect this sketchbook and to consolidate my works in this thread.

I hate linking to other websites since ZBC holds a special place in my heart, but I have super duper hi-res images of this project on my artstation here:

Let there be color!

As you can tell, most of the work was actually done in Zbrush! I love the way Zbrush has been able to handle a displacement and texture workflow. It’s made things really simple to go from zbrush->photoshop->maya etc.
