Plugins For 3.5??

Hi there!
When can we expect the plugins for 3.5?

From the Support Centre

NO plugins for version 3.1 or earlier should be installed in 3.5. They are not compatible with the many changes and new features, and could result in instability or undesirable side effects. Some will even prevent ZBrush from launching entirely.

We are currently updating all official plugins for use with version 3.5. A few will not be updated, but this is only because they are no longer needed. (For example, ZMapper.)

We do not have an ETA on any specific plugin. Please don’t ask. Our team is working as quickly as possible and will release each one as it is ready.

Nobody here really knows when except pixologic and they won’t tell you so all you can do is wait.

Richard

Not sure what the point is, especially if we are to expect Z-4 soon. When Z-4 comes out then we should wonder when the plug ins will be available. With the new features of Z-4 I’m curious as to what plug ins we will need anyway. Just seems like a useless effort on Pixo’s part to try and make plug ins compatible with 3.5. There’s too many things that should be on their priority list, like a Mac update and continuing to meet their deadline with version 4.

I’d quite like decimation master and subtool master back. I used to use them a lot

Indeed! Subtool Master and Decimation Master are the two things that keep me using the previous version of ZB. Gotta have the functionality that those two plugins provide.

same over here: started to use 3.5 and now I am stuck without subtool master and decimation master…

I’m sure Pixologic are doing what they can… in the mean time I’ve learned how to juggle…

Hi!,

One way you can get around the issue of not having tranpose master, subtool master and so forth is a trick I use all the time lately. Whenever you need to use these plug-ins, just save out the relevant tools and subtools (export each subtool by itself) as obj format at their top division level, then fire up ZB 3.1 and load them in, reassemble the subtools into the overall tool, if using subtools, and then run transpose master, subtool master etc. When you are done, save out as a ZTL (if heading back to 3.5 later) and then reopen in ZB 3.5 or send the stl of to be printed or what have you. Just be careful not to have "flip" on in the export or import preferences. Also, if you are using transpose Master, there is one more rather crucial step to do before launching the plug-in: you need to have ZB reconstruct the subdivision levels because things can get very ugly if you feed million poly+ models into transpose (read crash and potential blue screen). I know this is a tedious work around, but it does allow us to use all those plugins in 3.1 and still use 3.5 for what it has to offer. Would an updated plugin be better? Yes, but this does work and gets the job done in the meantime. I also use this trick a lot when I run into smart resym or subdivision reconstruction issues in 3.1: convert the file to OBJ, take it back to ZB2 (yes, ZB 2) and reconstruct or resym there. I don't pretend to know why but those two functions work more reliably in ZB2 than in ZB 3.1 or 3.5. Sounds weird but it's sometimes a good idea to keep older versions of software on your computer for those times when they do something better than the latest version or are more stable on certain functions, especially in a production environment. Hope this helps,

Johannes

Yeps, this is exactly what I mean by juggling, most of my work is done in 3.1, but converted back and forth in OBJ for some new features or brushes in 3.5;)

Yeah I need Zapplink and ImagePlane. It’s really slowing down texturing having to do it w/o them. Lovely additions though in 3.5 - sorry for complaining

I wonder why plugins like Subtool Master aren’t built in to the program. I understand why Zapplink is a plugin because Photoshop is a seperate program but it would seem that some of the plugins that don’t require another program should be part of the program.

Just thinking out loud, not complaining. If it needs to cost more (THIS will go over like a lead balloon) so be it.

Wove,
Rex

Maybe they will release soon Zbrush 4, with these plugins ?
It’s my guess

I think they’ll implement the new texturing tool we’ve seen previewed already into Z4, so ZApplink might become obsolete… But I sure hope Decimation Master is coming  - those are the 2 I’m missing very much and yeah I’m juggling between 3.5R2 and 3.1 every day

ZB and Pixo are yet again doing their best to alienate endusers.
Pixo could take a really big look at the great response the maker of 3D Coat gives and learn from it.
I am using ZB less and less and 3D Coat more and more and I recommend it to all. If Pixo want people to stay with them they need to get their enduser act together and real soon.

Tell us your plans and don’t BS us.
Pixo is getting the same foul smell about it as the obama democrats. Just a bunch of self serviing l***s.

l33ts?

krisz77 if you did’nt get what you paid for maybe you should adress it directly to the pixol team… -and you don’t have to wait a 4 year period to change the program

Troll?

Or you could massively overreact, that’s always an option

Forgive him, he"s a young padawan.

He may come off as a troll with his wording that may have benefited from being a bit less aggressive, but on the other end of the spectrum some of you guys come off a bit like fanboys with your strange complacence (which almost makes me wonder if you even use ZBrush at all).

For us who work in ZBrush daily, for hours, this ongoing gap between 3.5 and the update of plugins such as Decimation Master, and Subtool Master (which both became an integral part for many of us and our workflows during 3.1) is quite unacceptable, leaving us to choose between an older version with our workflow intact, or the latest version with a broken workflow but useful features and updates.

Either way we lose out, and yes frankly – even risking to be called a “troll” – is total BS.
