Playing with 3.0(some nude monsters)

Ok I think I’m going to stop painting and put this guy in a scene. Painted him more ,not that you would notice other than the eyes. I just noticed that the wings don’t look so good in the side view when they are not in the shadow . I’ll fix that or put them in shadow when I do the scene. I’m getting tired of working on this guy and I bet you are getting tired looking at him.

you’re the most prolific artist I have seen… do you sleep?
PS. also a master texturer to boot…

Tired of looking at it?? I only get tired from taking in all that luscious amount of detail! So good job on these tigrosaures. Putting them on a bridge would probably not be good for tourism…

Sometimes when a person gets too close to their work they become somewhat jaded. This is definitely my favorite now. Not because of the execution so much as the subject matter and style. Yah take this bad boy to a scene. To me, what the hell use is creating a model if it isnt going to be used in anything? Dont stop now  :+1:

Wow, Rick you did it again. Love the choice of colors on the Gryphon.
Is that all done and rendered in Z3?
Jamie

Rick, will you be using zbrush for any special effects in future movies you will be working on?
It (ZB3) just seems to open up so many possibilities for the imagined creatures of a warped (ha ha) mind.
Still watching your old work and still stands the test of time, (even KK)

Kev.

Jaime, yes it was basically all done in ZB I started with base meshes made by others the dog that comes with the ZB beta it is the same one you can download on the pixologic site in Modo I cut the back end off opened the mouth and cluged on the bird feet but after that it was all ZB and it is a ZB screen grab no render time necessary. It is really cool to be working and seeing the final product
.BTW I checked out your site and am really impressed by your and your partners work. Great stuff.
vendanta, I don’t sleep as much as I would like because this damn ZB is just too much fun and the day goes so fast. That is the same question I always ask Alex Oliver and Kris because they both turn out so much great work.
What can I say This is how I have fun. And I am having a blast playing with this.

Love the latest update! Really nice stuff!

I’ll take that bet

Amazing stuff. Any chance you will do some videos after the release, showing how you go about polypainting and some of the other tools?

Thank you Rick. I am humbled that you took the time to look at the work my partner and I produce, let alone comment on it. You really made our day!
You and the people that work at your studio, are a constant inspiration to me, and are one of the reasons I started out as an artist.

The answer to the song War.

War is also good as a theme in war movies… :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey Rick.
Very provocative these last two pieces.
I’ve always viewed art as being the subject of analyzation.
Or be it if it makes you think and feel, then it is art.
However dark or disturbing.
The fact is that once you try and define art you enter into a quagmire of
redundant debates.
I stated in my thread that I thought Zbrush 3 was art.
After all without the brush, chisel or pencil our museums would be bare.
I am disturbed by these images they have indeed made me think.

Blimey … powerful stuff indeed. Is it art? Yes. This question usually gets asked on Poser forums, and the debate can rage for weeks. However, when a genuine and gifted artist creates a piece designed to evoke a response from the viewer, then the question is moot. The only real question is ‘is it any good?’.

Answer: yes!

As a “younger viewer” I find it quite disturbing:warning:
Rick, you might wanna change the thread title from “(some nude monsters)” to: PARENTAL ADVISORY EXPLICIT CONTENT:lol:
here’s a sticker for ya.

That last one made my heart skip a few beats…a little bit of harsh reality seeping through the cracks of the comfortable virtual walls we like to surround us with!!!

More emotional content…the forum would be all the richer for it.

cheers Rick.

Shocking! In a good way. Even a great heap of corpses can’t keep me from asking: was that all done in Z3? Did you use Transpose to make all the poses?

I see 3d work round here that is simply amazing. All this is a big tease for the upcoming release… I hate you teasers  . Show us some more!

Very powerful piece. Its the kind of image that people need to see in times like now. Every thing is candy coated in our society, including war, and we need a grim reminder like this to remind us of what war is about.

Great stuff Rick! Moving work.
