Pixologic Release - ZPipeline Guides

WOoohooo!! The official Lightwave<>Zbrush guide!! I’ve looked forward to this! Thanks Ryan, for making this available, and thanks Steve, for investing so much time in it! :+1: :+1: :+1: :grimacing:

Thanks for the C4D pipeline documentation!

Hats off to you Steve and the pixologic team for an exhaustive and comprehensive walk through of the techniques and tips required to create the best displacement and normal maps possible in Lightwave9 and prior versions.

Wonderfully written easy to digest, full of great tips and answers all those other questions

Incredible work many thanks for your efforts.

I’d like to see a ZB to Modo pipeline. Didn’t see it in the thumbnails.

I’ve been waiting for The Lightwave/ZBrush Pipeline manual to come out, and just in time for the upcoming release of the more ZBrush friendly Lightwave 9. Thanks Steve, Newtek, and Pixologic!

I just gave a rapid look to the Steve tutiorial and its a great amount of useful informations about the process, and BTW how will work with 9.0 jeez 99 pages!!
congrats Steve for your kick as work.

now i’ll have alot to test to better my Lw/ZB/LW process with multiple Uvs and more !!! woo hoo!!

By the way; Ryan, do you know if there will be a link on the pixologic.com page for the LW guide? I think it deserves one, LW-PRIDE!

Link to the C4D pipeline seems to be broken

its incredible how frustrating it can be to relearn the learning process of a different app like zbrush. thanks so much for taking the time to help us all out scott. it means the world to me as a maya user who continues to be awe struck by the tool that is zbrush. i love the possibilities that are available to me because of the help of people like yourself. Taron and Seb set such high standards that it helps to know that making a lil progress still means that im making progress. again thankyou for the guide and especially the video tutorial.

good luck with every future endeavor you embark on.
-Josh

seems still to be broken…please let me know an actual link!

Got it!(C4Dpipeline)

First i want to say thanks for giving us this great guides
i work with max8 and i don`t understand the unwrap part, it seems so easy but when i try to do it, is very hard to fix overlapping faces.

Is there any metho or tutorial for doing this?
how important is this unwrapping?

thanks

the new Vue 6 is capable of displacement mapping on objects. Is it possible to go to vue from Zbrush? If so, how good is it?

On that note, the 3ds Max guide needs to be updated to include information for 9.0 users… the renderer settings changed quite a bit, and as far as my limited testing goes- the displacement is much more dramatic using the settings recommended by the pipeline guide.

if you model in max, then sculpt in zbrush something like an eyetooth, then you can´t export a nice displacement map to work in max. I say that cause i´ve tried everything.
I´d like to know if anybody could tell me i´m wrong…
Hope zbrush 2.5 can solve this problem with max

Now…I can Z the Light!
Thank you!

For those of use new to the scene all our new software is useless because stuff has moved around… esp. from 3.0 to 3.1… I’m new to both ZBrush and Max… so alot of the tutorials don’t work or menus have moved around enough that its hard to follow…

any news of a plugin to just export to a Max file?? or a plugin for Max/Maya that makes importing Zbrush stuff a one click?? Or at least some type of dialog box for an export to these programs.

By the looks of the forums many, many others are having these issues too.

Hi,

any chance on an update for the zbrush->max guide?
Having troubles getting the displacement to look right…
