PIXOLOGIC PRESENTS THE ZBRUSH WIKI

Pixologic today is announcing the next step in open source learning for ZBrush.

ZBrushCentral has become the one-stop shop for all ZBrush needs: learning, sharing, critiquing and chatting. With over 65,000 members, ZBrushCentral is larger than it ever has been and continues to grow at an incredibly fast rate.

Over the years, ZBC has accumulated a massive amount of data about the best way to use ZBrush, tutorials on using things like the Deco brush or ZSpheres and advice on how to sculpt your model.

Internet forums, however, are not the most organized sources of information. Their organization often resembles the chat-like quality of their structure. Researching answers to your questions can become time-consuming.

Now, the ZBrush Wiki can accommodate all your tutorials, tips, tricks, as well as our core documentation for ZBrush in an organized, easy-to-use, easy-to-access database.

Working together with each other, Pixologic and the ZBrush community can take the abilities and resources of ZBrushCentral to the next level.

The relatively new technology of the wiki puts learning into the hands of the users. The rise of Wikipedia is an excellent example. The Wikipedia, in December 2005, had “27,000 users who made at least five edits…”[1] It has over one million articles in the English-language version. More than the Encyclopedia Brittanica.

If you experience problems with the wiki please send them to [email protected].

Ryan…I might be jumping the gun here, since you just posted this, but I’m not getting anywhere with the links. They do not come up. Please keep in mind I’m two stones shy of dirt when it comes to Computers, so it could be me.

Word.

Just tried again and got in…thanks

Ryan

should I be creating the account at main zbrush site or what ?

Click on the blank window that appears, worked for me, but does have a bug or two.

So Ryan, finally, still want that bit from me?

wordsmith - click on the word “here”. I will change the links to be more intuitive.

wckedsunny - create the account at the wiki site. Click the create account in the upper right.

Jason - we cross posted. Yes, now would be a perfect time for comments!

Ryan

Well done Ken. :+1:

Sven

Do these “releases” occur without all of the moderators talking with each other? I wrote in to ask about something like this 6 days ago. I guess it wouldn’t have been a suprise if aurick had mentioned it was in the works.
Fantastic that it has eventuated. Will be a real time saver!

gingin

…powerful tool :+1:
And incredible tricky “Open” technology

pride - The wiki was a team effort. Everyone at Pixologic was aware of it. The mods do speak to each other. I am glad you find it useful. It has been many months in development as Jason hinted. Pleasee do get involved in creating content and helping us grow it. Feel free to post comments here about it and ways to improve it.

Frenchy - Its been a long time since I got a reply from you! :+1: :+1: I agree, wikis are very powerful. They are becoming more and more popular. One interesting side note I see is that a plug-in be written to call the wiki directly from ZBrush so you can have your own wiki help pulled up from ZBrush itself! Where’s Marcus?!

Best,

Ryan

Another fantastic utility. Thanks!

And yes. Receiving the elusive “Pilou!” is gratifying.

Receiving the elusive “Pilou!” is gratifying

…of absolution?

I couldn’t wait for Marcus.

Attached is a .zip file for a ZPlug-in Wiki Help. It will place buttons in your ZPlugin: ZHelp: ZBrush Wiki subpalette. Use those to directly access the wiki from ZBrush.

In there is a text file of the plugin. The language is very straight forward.

[IButton, name and path of button, pop-up text to explain button, commands to be executed]

Below is a section from the zscript:

[IButton, Zplugin:ZBrush Help:ZBrush Wiki:Wiki Main Page,Open the ZBrush Wiki in a browser window,[FileExecute, “ZBRUSH_ZData/ZPlugs/WebZPlug.dll”, HTTP_Browse, “http://www.zbrush.info/site/index.php/ZBrushInfo_Home”]]

To change the link that is called just substitute it for the area in white.

Best,

Ryan

 Very nice wiki’s rule this can become an awesome source of information if everybody contributes.

Hey guys! Don’t forget to put up bios of yourselves if you sign up. You can do it here.

r

nevermind… found it

wenna

Excellent idea Ryan and the team - This’ll surely give a real boost to everyone
and get them up to speed quicker than ever :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

cheers

Chris

eagerly await the zbrush tshirt!!!
Seriously, many thanks.

Allthough I got used to finding things in the unending vaults of ZCentral, it’s great that there is an organized way of finding what you need now. A Big Thanks to all those involved building this Wiki! :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:
