**** Pixologic Release: UV Master (WIN & MAC)

Take the files out of the UVMaster_Win_1.0 and paste them into the zplugs. Do not. Do not unzip to the zplugs folder.

Zplugs folder in “Startup” or in Zdata/Zplugs? Neither one seems to work for me. The installation guide says to install to ZStartup/Zplugs. Why would you not install to the zplugs folder. Sorry if I seem dumb! Is it because I’m running 64-bit. I’ve noticed in the above postss that some people having trouble in 64bit.

I also can’t see the plug-in and also have a 64 bit system and also am usually not too dumb…

Well I guess I don’t need UVLayout any more.

But you still need… ah, forget it.

So COOOL! Now everyone knows why I cared so little about UV mapping over the years. I just knew someone would get a proper way sorted out. So when will my royalty checks start arriving??? ROFL

Hello

Whether you are on a 32BIT or 64BIT system the plug-in goes in the ZBrush3.5R3/ZStartUp/Zplugs folder. Make sure to not just unzip the UVMaster folder into the Zplugs folder.

You must have the UVMasterData_1.0 and UVMaster_1.0.zsc in the ZBrush3.5R3/ZStartUp/Zplugs in order for the plug-in to work. If you just put the UVMaster folder in this directory then the plug-in will not launch.

Paul

and it still does not work

I get an error message whenever I press any button in the plugin other than clone. I have attached an image with the error message. It looks like GoZ is causing it to throw up on itself. Please help.

You’re trying to use the plugin with 3.12B. It requires 3.2 on the Mac. You can update here: http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/downloadcenter/

This is great! I’m loving this!!!

Please provide a screen shot of your Zplugs folder.

Here is what I have:

Computer>Local Disk>Program Files (x86) > Pixologic > ZBrush 3.5 R3 > Zstartup > Zplugs

and in that folder I have:

a file named UVMaster_1.0.zsc

a FOLDER called UVMaster_checkers with four images for testing UVs

and a folder called UVMasterData_1.0

===========================================

It still has no impact when I run ZBrush…the instructions seem nice and straightforward, but it seems like lots of people are hitting a problem. I really don’t want to have to understand the guts of the Windows OS to be able to apply UVs…I appreciate the nice effort of building this, but any chance of actually building an installer for some of the more major scripts?

I have followed the initial instructions exactly, and then followed the revised instructions another person posted. I did not unzip into the folder, I unzipped the file then copied the files into the locations noted…nothing.

Someone could once again post where they go, but it seems like most of us with problems aren’t failing to follow directions…something else is up.

Could the problem be the (x86) location? That would confuse me, since Zbrush has been running fine there forever.

It works now thanks Gabo but I have one more question… where do you put the files “UVMaster_c1” through UVMaster_c4?

Not to be rude, but I keep seeing these “it works now” threads…would you be willing to tell me what changed, or did you take the exact same actions but got a different result?

and as mentioned earlier: could it be related to an install to the (x86) folder? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall Zbrush, then do the script?

My home workstation is upgraded to 3.2, forgot my office Mac was still on 3.12b, I was thinking 3.2 the whole time. My bad, thanks for the point in the right direction.

many of these installation woes could have been avoided had they named the master folder to something else, i was confused at first as well but have installed enough plugins to sort it out.

there are two UVMasterData_1.0 in the zip, you want the deepest imbedded one to go into your ZBrush 3.5 R3\ZStartup\ZPlugs folder along with the .zsc i hope they don't do it this way again with the folder in folder poorly named.

also xp64 here.

if you have problems just create a folder in the ZBrush 3.5 R3\ZStartup\ZPlugs called UVMasterData_1.0 then goto the zip and take out the UVMASTER.DLL and put it in there. also put your .zsc in the zplugs folder

@supervee, those are just the checker textures put them wherever is convenient for you.

yeah…this isn’t happening for me…I have the zsc file in ZPlugs, and I have the FOLDER UVMasterData_1.0 in ZPlugs, and I’ve tried all manner of other flavors and it hasn’t worked for me.

There’s a post from Pixologic earlier (#134) that seems to have either a typo in it, is worded oddly, or is claiming the script needs to be installed in X86 AND the regular Program Files directory. Since I have NO Pixologic folder in the non-x86 program files, I can’t really do that.

Maybe a different question for ZBrush…will this be rolled into the next upgrade install as something that’s just built in?

I ask because as slick as it seems I’m not willing to spend hours and hours trying to figure out the right voodoo to get it to work, so I’ll just wait until it’s a part of the base install…or is that not how you work? I thought I was done with manually shoving files and DLLs here and there for 3D software around 1996.

I can’t give you points for innovation and customer dedication until I can give you points for simple and trouble-free installation.

hey phloog that is strange, you only have one UVMasterData_1.0 folder in zplugs right and it has the .dll in it?
not to insult you but are you sure you downloaded the windows version? also try downloading it again, maybe there was a corruption. otherwise that is strange.

The file I downloaded includes the characters “UVMaster_Win_1.0”…so if that’s not the Windows version then I really have a problem with Pixologic’s way of handling these things!

I have one UVMasterData_1.0 folder in ZPlugs…in it I have one and only one DLL – - UVMasterDLL.DLL (great name, by the way…EXCELFILE.XLS… WORDDOC.DOC)

I’ll try sacrificing a chicken over my hard drive and see if that works. Is Pixologic in Europe? Just trying to figure out when I might be able to check back in and see an official response.

Tested on Production characters…
works flawlessly, win vista x64.

THANKYOU!

Now we just need texture layers!!!
But we have been saying that from the beginning. I almost think your being paid not to do it lol. How much is Adobe paying you? $$$$$

Awesome plugin !!! Thanks a lot !
