Pixologic Announcement - The Roadmap to ZBrush 2.5

Personally, I DON’T mind waiting. If I had to wait another 6 months for 2.5 that would be just fine with me. What I am looking for is some sort of an update on 2.5’s progress. At Siggraph, they made it sound like 2.5 was just around the corner, then after Siggraph, they did the nice “roadmap to 2.5” thingermagig. It’s been months since I’ve heard anything, and though I have the upmost confidence in the Pixologic team, it does lead me to some confusion. If it’s more money you need, I’ll gladly send you a few hundered bucks for a warranted upgrade, so far 2.0 has been worth more than every penny I’ve spent on it, and it wasn’t even that expensive in the first place. Basically what ever is causing the delay, we’d like some sort of an update and most likely on all accounts would be willing to help/lend out input, etc. -Cheers.

To put some reasoning behind the lack of info disseminated on ZB 2.5 for the last while… I think a logical reason could be that ZB will have some competitors soon in this genre of software. So I dont think they wanna share their feature set/tech there developing and potentially have a copy of what there doing show up in someone elses program a month after 2.5 hits the shelves. Makes sense and quite understandible. Most things happen for a reason, even silence. Just a theory.

I agree with you spaz to change policy mid stream is bad customer service.
They should have stayed with the open Road Map policy. If it 6 months from now just say so we all would understand and be cool with that. But the we say nothing anymore policy after hyping us up with the road map is not cool. It has been three months now.

The only thing I think is maybe the Mac release is holding it up or a buy out from a big company is at hand. I hope neither is true and the delay is just bugs.

I wish I knew it was going to take this long. I could of learned modo and silo by now  but people keep hinting “not much longer” so I am thinking these people saying it know something I dont or they work for pixologic. I wish I was smart, id just learn Maya and XSI!

They release some plugins so the wait is not bad. It is the cut off on updating information that is too long.

I took the money I was going to use to buy 2.5 and spent it on XSI. I figure buy the time I am done with XSI Zbrush 101.5 will be out. Well at this rate maybe 2.5;)

Hmmm, I have been with Zbrush since close to the beginning. And I have been through every update since. I could understand all the anxiety, and outrage that I have been seeing here including sarcasm, for the past few months. If in fact the current version of ZBrush was so faulty that it couldn’t be used. BUT this is certainly NOT the case. ZBrush has always been a superior program in my view. And more than well worth waiting for the newest version to be ready. I am still experimenting and finding new goodies with the current version… My suggestion to the complainers is: Complain less and Play more!

Yes, ZBrush 2.5 should only be available to those users who can demonstrate they know everything about version 2.0 (including zscripting, of course!).

thanks

I agree, after all, imagine how long it will be to v3! I hope they take their time and put everything including the kitchen sink in 2.5. Besides, I need more time to figure everything out in 2.0!

I think it is interesting to see basically the same posts posted over and over again on this thread. (and I am sure this one is no different  )

Yeah we all have a lot still to learn on 2.0 and we should probably just shut up and wait.

But I don’t think anyone is really that upset that 2.5 isn’t released yet, because we obviously all want it to be a good release with no bugs and want Pixologic to make it solid.

The problem is that we want info on a rough estimate of when that might be; I think that is what has most of us concerned is that there has not been any new info not to mention any new target date set since early Dec when they changed the due date to TBA.

It is true that at SIGGRAPH they did promise it would be out before Christmas, since that promise was broken it doesn’t seem like a rough estimate is too much to ask.

But the fact remains that whether it’s released tomorrow or 2 years from now, the work your doing today won’t be affected by it. So just keep on trucking

2.5 would change my work drastically. I think everyone can agree with me. its getting very old seeing models in a stiff pose. I am sick of it. a simple movement adds alot of character to a piece, I been saying that over and over again  but its true. it sucks royal having to export models and displacement maps and all this other crap for a 3rd program to rig and render and still get poor results. I dont know about you guys, but I am really annoyed and frankly starting to get pissed off nothing has been said or released at this point. I really wish there was a program that would let you sculpt with ease like zbrush but have a pose function without all the other million buttons like maya or xsi. id change programs in a heart beat! I am really surprised some other programmers havent made something just like zbrush but with a better renderer and a pose function. they’d make a killing and sink zbrush. but I guess pixologic was born to create something nobody else can! S.O.B!!!

Yeah I don’t think I explained that last part very well,

what I meant by the work you are doing right now not being effected by it. I mean you have to do things the way you are doing them right now, and the way everyone has been doing them for years, and there is nothing you can do to change that, so you have to just keep working and creating and finding work arounds until 2.5 is out.

Yes of course 2.5 will drastically change your workflow

But on the main note of my last post, I think everyone here wants some kind of an update whether it is “2.5 will be a year late or we are shooting for another month guys”

The pissing & moaning is getting a little old, don’t ya think? Now people are getting spiteful & obnoxious over waiting for a free update. The way this thread is going I wouldn’t respond either, as this has become a hostile environment. This kind of behavior is why this place is not as friendly as used to be.

I vote for that as well dsaevajr.

In fact I think this threead and future stuff like it should be closed. It is in no way constructive and at this point really is a waste of energy that could be utilized to create and improve work in Zbrush.

So, you think it should be closed, but yet you’re posting in it.

And dsaevajr doesn’t like the complaining, so he complains about it.

I love irony.

“There will be no bounds to their malice;… Nothing shall remain on the earth or under the earth or in the waters that shall not be pursued, disturbed, or spoiled, and that which is in one country removed into another. And their bodies shall be made the tomb and the means of transit of all the living bodies they have slain. O earth, why do you not open and hurl them into the deep fissures of thy vast abysses and caverns, and no longer display in the sight of heaven so cruel and horrible a monster?” - From Leonardo da Vinci’s Notebooks.

Just Chill!!!

It will be released, and when it does you will like it!!!

Can you add developer cams to your website? I think it would be cool to watch the developers working hard on ZB.

I think it’s a funny feature they had for Black and White 2:

Just a rough estimate would stop the complaining.
