Pixologic Announcement - The Roadmap to ZBrush 2.5

Yes a update on the RoadMap would be nice.

I purchased Zbrush 2.0 back in August at Siggraph '05. I was assured that 2.5 would be a free upgrade for 2.0 users, and after being blown away by the flawless stage demonstrations I got my own copy and I have loved the software ever since.

What I don’t understand is why 2.5 isn’t out yet, or at least why more z-plugs haven’t been released, when the Siggraph stage demos went off so perfectly, without a hitch.

The features I want most are the advanced marker system, that is very intelligent about automatically redrawing objects and letting you work with multiple objects. As well as the new surfacing tool that is perfect for adding clothes to your model. As well as the new Z-bones feature. All of which worked so perfectly at the show.

The last thing I would want is for Pixologic to rush a release, but at the same tolken, I just can’t begin to understand what the long delay is when I’ve already seen a very solid, working product in action???

I would very much appreciate some kind of update from Pixologic reguarding the status of 2.5

Harg, there’s a new way to put some objects in 2.5? I’m surprised… explain me more… how to… please I was’nt there in Seegraph…

Have a nice day (or night)

Nic

You know, if you beg, it aint gonna happen soon and they can smell the dispair… Thats lethal with both wolves and software developing teams.

It is the weekend so I am not reporting from work but I want to nip something in the bud. There was nothing demoed at Siggraph that relates to an “advanced marker system.”

I am not sure what skurby is refering to but I also don’t want to fuel speculative talk here. I understand the desire to know more but there is nothing that they can report at this time. Keep in mind that Pixologic does seem to focus on cutting edge tools which are difficult to describe before hand. It is not like we are talking about an old way to cut verts here that gets implemented in a new package. Its a revolution, baby!

And, as pappa smurf said, “Not much further!”

Cheers

Just remember not every thing you see on screens are real only until they release it is real. Hope it is release soon.

I am unsure why rumplestiltskin doubts what I saw. I have no way to perfectly explain it, but it was evident that 2.5 allowed for working with multiple 3D objects at once by remembering the position of a previously dropped object and then re-drawing that object automatically on the canvas in it’s current position, orientation and scale with edit mode now active.

Skuby, please… don’t lie, … grrrr, you try to turn me mad !.. but I’m stronger than death and can wait for Zbrush untill the end of times… ta ta! :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

skuby - did you just call me a rumplestiltskin?

“An advanced marker system” was not part of our presentation at Siggraph. However, what you have very accurately observed was the way that the siggraph version of ZBrush 2.5 dealt with the edit mode. I did not disclose more info because this is subject to change.

As Director of Training at Pixologic my intention was only to keep information as current yet accurate as possible.

Kind Regards,

Ryan

How is the cyber-suit and zbrush interface coming along?

I tried our Spaceship interface and it worked but instead of creating art work it formed a wormhole to another universe.

 Some humor to brighten the day

ryankingslien-

And, as pappa smurf said, “Not much further!”

Hey thanks for the info, any info you have on 2.5 is greatly appreciated. But does that mean not much further as in another 3 months? Or not much further as in a year?

can anyone be more specific with any release info?

Smurfs, Rumplestiltskin? Where does the Sack of Wisdom and the Giant Turnip fit into all of this?

Please, nobody tear themselves in half.

Now with this, I can wait one year !

ZBrush 2.5 dealt with the edit mode!!! Great news … new edit mode… arghh… now I can wait for one year or more… thank you!

this link gives a error towards a old section of the board, on a other topic the download link works http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=31281&highlight=roadmap

Just wanted to let you guys now.

Thanks. It’s fixed now.

Will there be a new practical guide type thing with the update, because 2 years in & I’m still finding cool stuff in the current version…

Just thinking out loud, but if you’re all a little busy at Pixologic, I’ll happily do it for you, just send me a copy of 2.5 & I’ll get right on it…

I will take all the abuse people want to throw at me but I got to say this.
For a great program like Zbrush and a great Forum like this - I just can not understand the following.

Firstly:
Why can people not be a little patient - hell - there are a million things you can do with the version 2 as it is. Be creative and be happy!
Mankind waited millions of years to get the first computer - put it into perspective guys.
Secondly:
This is a request to ZBRUSH developers. FIX THE LIGHTS GUI.
Its the single most godamn aweful lighting system I have ever seen in a 3d environ. Positioning and adjusting etc is just horrible.
I was able to work better with the old DOS based 3Dstudio about 15 years ago. FIX IT Guys FiX IT = PLEASE !!!
Thirdly:
If this means I have to wait longer for the upgrade - thats fine?
Fourthly:
I would like to say that otherwise its a great proggy and the efforts by the ZB team are great and appreciated.
Ciao
