Pixologic Announcement - The Roadmap to ZBrush 2.5

Please Release ZBRUSH 2.5 so the speculation on this thread will end.

for cryin out loud! who breached our nda?! i’m buyin pixologic not ea or apple or bill! they were biddin but i won. and i’m keeping it all for myself! what the heck? oh wait… i’m drinking again! sorry cy and everyone who’s got an email alert on this - just messin with ya! email alert… heheheh… how silly is it that?!

RenderWare is still available, but existing licensees are wary about continued support; whether they’ll see new versions at the same time they would if EA owned them, etc. – at the very least, opening their intellectual property for EA to examine next time something goes wrong is a conflict of interest, so it’ll be interesting to see how this all develops.

But, yeah. I think at this point, the best way to counter speculation is with bigger speculation. Show the world how silly that is.

And of course, if we keep filling this thread with useless drivel, it’s just a matter of time before everyone unsubscribes from it.

Partialy we own 2.5 allready…look at the start of this thread, all the features.

I think they are waiting for them…who are them???..them is: http://www.luxology.com/ …these guys are waiting for there update also…it looks scaringly the same… :frowning: And whats worse they…err…that is them…err…they are witing for us…so…there will never be an update. Everyone is waiting for everyone…sigh…

Yainderiboohoooooh…sniffff…

Modo does some things better than ZBrush, and the new version looks like it might catch up with 2.0 in some of the areas it was behind. It won’t catch up with 2.5 anytime soon, but depending what your needs are, this might be the better solution for some users.

ZBrush excels beyond anyone in certain areas, and is playing catch-up in others. 2.5 further improves on areas where they were already ahead, and innovates on some new things.

Bottom line: You’re going to make yourself miserable playing this game. Most tools are worth having, and compliment rather than replace each other. Sell your kidneys or rob a bank or something. Get really good at 3D and beat out other artists for the high-paying salaries. Whatever it takes, just find a way to buy everything. It’s the only way you’ll ever be happy.

beat out other artists

Most certainly not…

It’s the only way you’ll ever be happy

I have a home and family, a vaporizer and I own (!) 2.0…more than enough to handle.  :grimacing:

And then the speculation on ZBrush 3.0 will start.

Heck, forget ZBrush 3.0, I wonder what ZBrush 12.0 will bring us. :grimacing:

In the meantime, I just keep learning as much as I can about 2.0 so I’ll be ready when the time comes.

Anyone still have a working tandy. With those expandable cartridges? I remember this game Pitfall. It was miles ahead of the Atari version. Montazuma’s revenge. Rygar. And all the Infocom text based games.

Ah the good times…

It´s so strange in here. We got such a mighty tool to create awsome work. I think it is not the 2.5 version which matters. What matters is the great modeling zbrush offers; even with version 2. When it will be released, it will probably rock, but up to this day everybody can refine their skills. Maybe the only fault pixologic does, was to set a release date, but hey, they are only human.

cheers

Yeah but it is almost March. They should at least give a updated timeframe.

Saying nothing is the politest and most coherent thing Pixologic can do. It might be possible to give a range of release dates if all consumers were rational adults capable of comprehending the fact that circumstances change. Sadly that’s not the world we live in.

You’d have more success asking water to flow uphill than asking Pixologic to talk about release dates before they feel they’re ready.

Hey, clearly 2.5 has been more work than expected, why not we mobilise to convince Pixologic to retract the free upgrade idea for people who already upgraded from 1.5. I for one would be real interested to throw rotten fruit at anyone who wasn’t perfectly happy with that idea.

Exempting those who already paid for a crossgrade, I hope? (that process does still require that you install and register 1.5, even today.)

Antimorph I disagree a simple vague statement would be suffice. Late spring Early summer. That would kill some of the speculation without showing all the cards. That is what Silo developers are doing as well as Modo and Lightwave. We all know it is not ready for release I think people just want a general Idea. In todays market you have to give customers a heads up if your development process is taking a longer time than expected. That is the smart thing to do in my opinion.

It couldn’t be any clearer what the policy is now. They don’t have to do anything and they certainly don’t have to conform with expectations that fly in the face of everything that’s been said on the subject already. Time to put you back on mute I think.

I have a funny feeling that some of these updates are ready to go except for maybe Lightwave and they are all going to be releasing at the same time after an announcement at some gathering that they will all be attending. I could be wrong but I bet if we checked these sites for news and their gathering schedule, match up the similar dates we can figure out the release are selves.

I am to lazy to do this! Alas the hardship of a sofa chair conspiracy theoryist.

A forum rule reminder is needed. Keep it Civil.

I felt certain that the Game Developers Conference last year would be our big day. Key words being “last year” – I’ve since lost faith in that theory.

At this point, I look to the Cold War for parallels.

From my side, if the delay release of zbrush 2.5 is related to its development, I even think its a good thing.

Of course I’m impatient, and think they will have to release it one day, but consider the latest it come, the newest technologies it will include!

And regarding the stability of zbrush2, I can wait as long as needed to keep the programm like this…

I already have enaugh to learn and play with version2 to wait!

Needless anxiety removed if a new release date is given. However if it is a a few unsolvable bugs it would be impossible to give a estimated release date. So the Saga continues. I hope it is not release in the next two weeks I am to bust at this point to play with a new version anyway. Hope others are the same.

Alot of time ppl seem to think that this is about release dates.

What I mean is that when people try to intercede for pixologic they seem to tell people to relax or tell people that they should just be patient etc. … and yea thats true to a certain degree.

I think the thing I miss is the constant communication that used to exist.

I remember when Pixolator was always posting up one thing or another (stuff that was being worked on, or some cool thing he was trying with an existing feature).

The road map to 2.5 was a welcome post, but it did come after a very long period of silence. And now the silence is again prolonged. Maybe its just gonna be this way from now on :(. I guess that happens as companies succeed. :frowning:

But I do miss the old days … they were one of the reasons I bought ZB in the first place.
