It would be cool if they coudl let us know now wether it will be delayed or not, save people getting a little upset on the release day like they did when zapplink was delayed.
Someone can explain me what is the morphUV feature in ZMapper plugin or post a link to an explanation?
Thanks
I disagree.
This is a serious marathon they’re running, and what you’re asking for is akin to announcing halfway through that they’ve given up. That’s not how you keep a team motivated.
As users, we’re not stupid. We know how much work goes into these things, and we don’t need to be told how cause and effect work. Zapplink took extra time. No extra time was added to the schedule. Be amazed if it’s not delayed. Be okay if it is.
Those users who would be upset on release day would be no less upset a few days earlier. They’d just be upset longer.
Your model shifts smoothly in form from it’s organic shape into a flat representation of it’s texture, and back again. In this way, you can see how areas of your UVW map interrelate on the mesh, and visually identify problem areas.
ZMapper’s release date has been extended to allow for more functionality. We will announce the new release date as soon as we know more.

Grooovy!
Once zbrush remain as perfect it is, take the timw you want!
We already have enaugh power in zbrush to have som great fun! lol
Thanks for the info Ryan and updating the header post with the ammended information.
You run a model (forgive the pun) service for keeping us users informed. I think personally it does help keep expectations realistic. Most of us realise that the extra work you’ve had to do to get ZApp & DispExporter fine tuned for the two platforms takes programmer/developer time which otherwise would have been used to work more on the UVmapper.
I’m just delighted the the company philosophy and policy is to try and get things as near perfect as possible before you let us clumsy children test it to destruction!!
Keep up the great work.
Nigel
hey you guys,
I just wanted to thank you for such a great application! It took a long time upto the 2.5 release, but I think it is the most impressing release I ever experienced. Better than christmas… the good thing is, everyday comes something new!
Stay on rocking!!!
jens
Did I miss something? 2.5 release? What is this person talking about? Did 2.5 fly right past me?
ZappLink works GREAT! As does Zketchapd Which I’ve already used to make signatures for documants in a book going to press Monday.
Thanks!
If you’re enjoying it now, just wait until reality catches up! Delusion’s fun and all, but I think the actual 2.5 release is going to be even better than this thing you’ve imagined.
Buhhzzzzz… hold it wat was that? theres been a glitch in the matrix! somthings changed. LOL
Any news on what the ZMapper release was pushed back to?
It was pushed back to… allow for more functionality.
No specific release date. That’s sort of the point. If there was news, you’d have seen it.
No need to pressure them. We’ll all know when it’s done.
There’s no need to get defensive. I was just inquiring if anybody had an ETA. We’re very much looking forward to this app for our pipeline. No harm intended ;).
I think they should open source the plugin code so some mac coders can take a look at it. The beta team they are using if they are using one is too small. At some point you have to realize the mac development is not working out well. It is holding up all the releases. I have no problems on my PC with Zbrush and the plugins.
It is alot to ask a small company to make two platform versions of their software. They should open up the mac development to a outsourced team.
Most 3d is done on PC and you are holding up usage and gaining more customers for a smaller % of the market. What happens if some new company comes out with a new gizmo out of know where that competes
with your software. You have to build your base of customers whenever
possible and without prolonged delays. In 6 months it will be two years since a new release of Zbrush in todays market that is too long. That is why a lot of customers aare getting anxious. They see MAX 8, Maya 7, Cinema 9.5, Houdini 8, Messiah …etc. being released. Do not get mad with the customers we are in the now culture.
Granted Pixologic is a small company but they have a brand that is growing and they need to adjust a little by getting a faster Mac development model.
Antidote -a star-
Now culture - BAH!
Anaticipatiion like ours a planned step?

Personally I am grateful that they code the Mac software themselves. Zbrush is the most reliable modeler I use by far - lightwave - silo etc. have their uses, but crash often on me. The standards at this company are so high, I can’t imagine an outsourced company taking the same trouble to perfect things or taking the same pride in their work. I honestly don’t mind waiting for the exceptional products that come from this amazing company.
Amen, Cassandra.
Remember, they can’t hand off a port until feature lock, even if they want to.
Pixologic must have considered outsourcing, and rejected the possibility for reasons which make sense to them. What those reasons are is none of our business.
Actually none of us know if they considered it or not until someone from the company makes a statement they have look at those options. It is definetly their decision as owners of their product. But I would not say it is none of our business. We are customers that is why they have sugestions
posted at times on the forum. And they do listen to our suggestions which in turn makes their product better. We always have to be careful to give honest feedback to a company and not always endless praise. The goal is to make the product better and easier to use. Suggestions are always welcome. Pixologic has always been open to suggestions and usually makes the right decisions in my opinion.
