Pixolator Rock Challenge (The technique has been cracked....see page 7)

hehe , nice smudging going on there f.p.

Here is my attempt. I made a new material out of one of the metaltextures. I call this MT. Duckmore! LOL

I did some enhanceing with the highlight brush on the statue head on the far right… didnt help much…

Here’s my shot. Just the material on a flat plane.

wow kaz is on to something!!! :+1: :+1: :grimacing:light file ?

I think I will call this “Toxic Waste”

Hi Gary
Your first mixed objects blue landscape is incredible  Technic ?
I suggest to named as you want your images (text (preference) or numbers),
it’s more easy for comment and for you to remember when your production will be enormous
Have happy Zbrushing

Thank you Mentat! I have not brushed for months, this has been fun!

Great to see you KAZ!!!

“Gene Pool II”

I think this is about as far as I am going until Pixolator posts his tutorial. Unless of course I have a sudden epiphany (or massive brain anurism). So Pixolator…will the real Pixolator Rock Technique please stand up…

heres my entry, this was fun mentat…thanks

A lot of energy in this thread!wonderfull!!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

That is a cool effect Dr.jjwow, seems pretty close to what I was aiming for. Mentats 2nd pic on page 4 is also very close to what I wanted to do. :+1:

Hope we get to hear it from the horses mouth soon, so I don’t spend the rest of this weekend trying

I tried alot of the tips in this thread but couldn’t get the effect with just one material. It also seems very dependent on the lighting if using just a single material.

Made using standard techniques. Created base layer (without white stuff) and duplicated it. Offset the 2nd layer manually by +5 Z units. Loaded a copy of the material on layer1 and on 2nd layer painted the bumps using the 3dBrush(Zadd+M). The tricky part is getting the draw depth just right, with a little more tweaking and a proper Alpha I could probably have made the white stuff a bit thinner.

Lots of great pictures in this thread :+1:

Good idea TV! I didn’t think to try it that way. I may fiddle with it some more. Now that I think about it…you might try using ZSub on the top layer rather than ZAdd on the bottom layer. It may be easier to control. Not sure how well it will work but I am going to give it a shot later on.

Hi Mentat the seven
I don’t know what is the Pix Technic but your now seems surpass the original
Pilou

Getting closer…but I sure could use some of Pix’s insight (hint hint)
