Personnal Modeling Trainings

Great sculpt, I love the flow and “airy” feel to it.:+1:

I still think it looks wrong. She is in a pan pipes playing pose but shes blowing on somthing that looks like a recorder or irish whistle. Get some photo reference and decide if the instrament is held vertical or horizontal. I think a flute would work best as you blow in a hole on the side and not at the end of the instrament . . . I hope this helps

Beautiful model! You did a really great job!
If I may offer little critique : I´m with the others – the way she´s holding the flute doesn´t make sense.
There´s still something wrong – especially with her right arm.
Why is she holding this arm sooo high?
This arm seems to be the “main problem”.
Have you tried playing the flute in this position (bent forward + ellbow as high as your model´s)? Very uncomfortable IMO.
I think sgrell hit the nail on the head.
Other than that I´ve absolutely nothing to crit.
The pedestal is great, she´s beautiful and I especially love the pose of her legs and feet – very elegant!

it’s still not working in my opinion - it seems you’re avoiding to completely re-position and resculpt the arms, which granted will be time consuming, but definitely worth it in the end IMHO…

once more I’d refer you to Buick I linked to before and these by Macdonald in particular:

Hey thanks for the comments

Hmm I think this flutist will be my nightmare for long time lol

Intervain, reworking the arms isn’t a problem to me, but I think that for now I lack fresh point view about this model .

Perhaps I should let her like that for few days, and work again on that area then .

Sometime due to time working , even the simplest things are hard to see ^^

sgrell , about what you said :’ I think a flute would work best as you blow in a hole on the side and not at the end of the instrament ', I think you are right  .

I think I’ll try that once I’ll have fresh point of view about this model. :+1:

Again thank to all fro the comments, I think it will help to get this model to a higher level

:grimacing:
UFFF … fatastico work. A great model and looks very natural pose
:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

I would like to see her pointing the instrument up high for all the forest to hear.

This way there’ll be no need to change her head or body position. Just repose her arms.

It’s beautiful model though. I guess it’s like you said, you just grew a little tired of it. I’ve been there.

Hello there :),

Despite that fact I said yesterday that ‘I needed fresh point of view’ for this flutis, I decided to give a try at reposing her arms .

Because of that I had to resculpt some areas, and tweak the overall pose of the upper body .
IMO, just reposing the arm can have consequence on other parts of the body .
I have cleaned the most part that were too much deform. If the new pose if OK now, I’ll do the final cleaning of the model.
Here is what I got for now :

Again comments and crits are welcome
Thank to all of you for the nice comments and especially the help. It’s really great :+1:

The new pose is definitely more understandable, but it has obviously lost some of its sensual nature because she’s no longer cherishing her flute.

Although making love with instruments is probably not very healthy.

Definitely a tough decision…

I think I’m gonna abstain on this one

hehe splodge, I understand what you mean and I agrre with that

Personnaly I like the two version, but I feel something different in the two .

Luckly I always keep many version of my models .

I’ll wait other comments to see which of these two people prefer . lol
I personnally prefer tha last one, caus’ the model composition is better to me .
But it’s subjective, and I wanna know user opinion ^^

Perhaps it could be interesting to keep the too often, to see how a slight change in the pose can transform the meaning of a model

Thanks for the comment splodge ^^ , I hope you like the last model I posted as well despite the fact it’s still a WIP :

Note : I named this last model ( La Damnée )

Thanks again ^^

really nice work

the awkwardness of the old pose didn’t really stand out to me until comparison with the updated pose, I’d say the new one seems more natural, an improvement I reckon :+1:

I really like the new pose, it looks more natural to me.

The new pose gets my vote. The first pose was just awkward to me. Yeah, it may have been more sexually charged, but she seemed a little too desperate to be so enraptured with her flute. Excellent sculpt by the way!

Hi Chokmah, this is a difficult choice but I think I prefer the second pose. In the first pic she looks as if she is enjoying playing for herself, but in the second pose she looks as if maybe she is using her flute to call someone? As if she is putting more effort into it maybe. Great modeling though, and I like also your new sketch, be interesting to see this too.

Hello again,

Here is an update of ‘La Damnée’.
I mainly have made corrections about head props and outline, especially the front/nose line.
I added lace on her chest and a socle, that will need to be detailed ^^
There are some work to do on that model, but I thinks it is on the right way .

I hope you’ll like it for now ^^

Awesome work, looking good!

Hello,

Today I wanted to go back on an old project I never finished before.
It is a Leprecon from Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide:

Leprechien_Spiderwick_Ref.jpg

A lot of work to do on it ^^
At the beginning I wanted to model only the upper body as an exercice.
Now I think I’ll do the overall body .

I hope you’ll like this first step

As always feedback is welcom

keep up

Hello ,

I had a lot of work since I last posted anything here .
This weekend I managed to get free time.
So I kept working on the Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide character .

I mainly worked on basemesh/proportions modeling .
I still have to detail all the parts … so lot of work to do ^^
