Really? so bad is?.. cool!, im kidding haha
Why drive a Beetle when you can fly in a Ferrari???
The metaphor isn`t right.
Beetle is retro, while Mudbox is even younger than ZBrush
Still one could assume that it is older in mind
You know what’d be cool? Dropping by Zbrushcentral (which I haven’t done in a while) and not seeing threads which read like children defending some kind of made-up religion. Seriously guys, it’s okay to use and support more than one tool. The only people who sit around trying to make fun of another application, which is used by professionals the world over, are cg newbs. If you’re a cg newb, it’s time to grow up. If you’re not, you really should know better.
Less whining and trying to poke fun at things, and more using the tools made available to you in the cg realm. That is all.
I’d like to like it. I like 2009, I love texturing in Mudbox. My post was addressed to the previous poster who wrote that stability issues were addressed in 2010.
I’m not sure if it’s true, but there is scuttlebut that 2010 was rushed out the door to keep up subscription deadlines.
Additionally the upgrade price from 2009 is pretty steep.
I’ll try again when they release a patch.
Not liking the release is fine… it’s the ‘Zbrush versus Mudbox’ nattering in this thread that’s dumb.
more tool using less grouching please
The missing the release dates is getting old but I understand if newbies want to vent.
What you guys are missing is this Pixologic is in this to win this.
By offering free upgrades they are telling you it is not about the money and that they are not selling out to Autodesk. Autodesk is destroying Mudbox
because they ar not concern or really have any deep love for their software. Pixoogic clearly loves their software. It shows in their innovation.
They want to create the greatest software of all time!
when that is your goal a release date is not set in stone.
I will just get on Sept 8th when it is released.
Garycrump, why did you post that in two threads?
Isn’t it funny that Pixologic “merges” (e.g. buries) any positive thread about an application they don’t like, but a negative thread about a competing product can live forever?
This belongs in the “Other Commercial Applications” thread like all the others.
-K
Because the arguments are the same in both threads.
New update for 3D Coat just came out 3.1.02, big features are a couple of new tools called Muscles and Toothpaste. Here’s a quick demo video I made.
Here’s the download link (can be used as a demo version)

Common sense aint it?
After all were all on a companys forum here.
Imagine us all sitting infront of a nuclear power plant discussing the best
ways to run it.
Of course we will laugh at wind energy!
3D Coat 3.1.03 released with a bunch of bug fixes and a few new features. Here’s a quick vid showing the new Rasp-File tool as well as more about the Muscles that I missed in the last vid.
If anyone is interested I made a quick demo video on making a T-Shirt in 3DC with retopo tools and the cloth simulator.
i see this little app is growing up well !!! nice vids, thanx for sharing!
Is sculpting in 3D coat smooth as in ZB yet?
As smooth if not smoother. BTW the Cloth tool is actually pretty old. I made a previous Youtube video on it back in February.
It feels like spaceless weightless matter i find
not starting anything here…but assuming the people who have used it actually gave 3dcoat a fair demo…from what I have heard the sculpting is actually what threw them away from buying it…it was the retopo tools and painting that drew them towards a purchase.
