Blender is a full operational editor. It is not sculptris or zbrush.
Supposing… you have some UVs already. What will happen to them? You have many options.
A mirror and weld is not an acceptable operation then.
Enter sculpting mode in blender. Like in all other sculpting apps I know, you 'll find the same mirroring options. Under dyntopo mode (similarly to Sculptris) you have a remesher with mirror and weld. With nice options actually that you won’t find in sculptris or zbrush-geometry panel)
