Now Im having fun

Thankyou!

And here I was trying to be sneaky!
Thank you, its been an interesting week and is rapidly improving!

Awww… THANKS!!!

Fantastic is not enough.
Great success,
This thing is too random, but you managed to manipulate it.
A nice clean topology. But most of all, some good taste.

Wow Michalis! Thank you!

Fun with matcaps!
I need to do this more, matcaps are fun and interesting.

Matcaps rules heheheheh

i’m waiting more experimet from you

hehehe!!! I was JUST in your thread a second ago and you stuff is so cool!

Im going to be trying some new stuff soon I think and if it works the way I think it should it will be interesting, or at the very least a lot of fun.

Played around with your tutorial and had a lot of fun.
Combined with 3ds max Greeble I managed to crash GoZ several times  (19mil polys in 3ds max 2012 64 Bit -> GoZ -> runtime error - that’s the reason why I don’t have a render for you so far)

I guess this is a monster method to create incredible detail.
Poor thing is, it is demystifying some artwork - not making it bad - but just demystifying.

Good thing is - you achieved what just a few artists achieved.
You started a new sculpting fashion.
This is normally just achieved by a new zBrush feature.
You just read carefully and explored by yourself like you are doing as long as I follow your work.
And finally you chaired your knowledge, like you always do.
With some delicious render.

Time to say “Respect and thank you, MealeaYing”
Please don’t stop in “don’t know what I am doing but doing it anyway” even though it’s not really true anymore.

Hi Mealea, I’ve started experimenting with matcaps and they can sure bring our creations to Life… and I’m still trying to figure out how some of the others are making their version of Skulls …

And am totally in love with LVXFERs Geiger’s pieces, and yours too… Deke

I made an object with over thirty million polygons and two subtools!

Its stupid!!!

If you look at the top it says I have some free memory left!
I can get MORE STUPID!!!
YAY!!!

Alright I ran through your tutorial on a couple of primatives and an old noodly thing of mine. Thanks for making this workflow so easy to understand, I thought I understood a lot of the pieces but its good to see it broken down and explained.melea-cube-1.jpgmelea-cylinder.jpgmelea-knot-2.jpgmelea-knot-5.jpgmelea-sphere-1.jpg

…that ball of string…i can hear you from here eheheh
anyway Gutalin made something similar but i dont know if it is the same technique
try to figure it out i’m curious maybe you find some other tricks we dont’ know

thirty million polygons

i’m so jealous…:stuck_out_tongue:

Those are terrific! From there you can do all sorts of wild stuff, very nice work!

HA!
I think I got it, I will post it (or my version of it) below.
You make me think to much, my blissful state of oblivion is being tampered with!

GRIN!
So am I, I cant believe I didn’t crash! (hence a screenshot, I panicked and thought I might not ever see that again!)

Endless repeating pattern of string…
I thought this was going to drive me nuts but I figured it out rather quickly.
I did not try to make it like other balls of string however, I wanted more chaos.

hehehehe…
Seriously, it tiles seamlessly thanks to Marcus.

HAHAHAH excellent, now explain it i’m curious

hehehe…
I think you will get a kick out of this.
All I did was grab the center ring of polygons from the middle of a sphere, did a mesh extract of it, inflated the extract slightly and subdivided it till it was somewhat smooth.
Then I used it as a 2.5D brush and made a nice big mess, once that was done I used Marcus’s seamless texture plug in to make it repeat seamlessly.
Simple huh?
IMM brushes could work too but they would have to be VERY low polygon brushes…

Marcus’s plugin is here:

ahhhh at the end it was a torus…it’s not like this:

Fantastic, as always your work is surprisingly good I suggest many ways, by
a hug:+1:

this effects can be achieved using zsphere (zsketch, with a small brush stroke upon a sphere or other objects) or better using 3ds max drawing splines upon the surface of a model in edit poly,
make the splines renderable and convert them so that can be exported in ZB, then clone them, rotate them and use the move topology brush so that strings don’t intersecate.
Add some noise or use the group loops features for other effects…
join this with meats Meyer technique or mine/Gutalin and you can reach a complexity unbelievable - imagine also in 2.5D with layers…ARGH…

It’s very cool but i think there are other ways…i’m still searching…so you too guys
(and lets’ use thisfantastic thread, thx to Melea, for further experiments)

Regards,
Lvxifer.
