Absolutely, you can paint, sculpt, encrust with ZSpheres, subdivide, do mesh extractions and generally do anything you like to them, even (and this can be a bad idea) split them all into Subtools.

Super speed sculpt, 5 minutes in TopMod for the base mesh, 5 minutes In ZBrush, maybe less.

Also I have named the plane, its called The Polygon Platypus after another famous plane that I think never got off the ground.
