I’ve been playing around with the new marmoset toolbag and I must say it’s quite impresive.
Here is a model i’ve made a few months ago of a friend of mine. Still long way till finish but I am closely getting there.
I took a break from Comicon and decided to try something else.
Concept by Yangyang Sui(SYY1983): http://s.cghub.com/files/Image/637001-638000/637125/594_max.jpg

I’ve started streaming today for those of you interested in my process to get this guy from concept stage to game model. Please join me. Don’t be shy Hopefully tonight i will finish with the high poly and after that I’ll do the low poly in topogun and 3ds max, texture in photoshop with ddo and final render will be in marmoset toolbag 2.

Ok ok…last update for this guy’s high poly. If I won’t feel in the mood to work on the comicon entry tomorrow I will start working at the low poly.

did a tineye,google search by image.
PS:
:oI didn’t know cghub was gone!! abruptly shutdown?.
@ jawa64 Thanks man
I did a search by image too but haven’t manage to find out who made this amazing concept…
Regarding the concept…as I’ve stated…I’m only using it as inspiration…the the face and the whole body proportions are completely different and it’s made after a close friend of mine. Anyway…i will surely modify it till the end a lot…still long way to go.
@Jagoro Thanks
@brian20 Thanks man. The scales were done roughly in 3ds max…I used a really old script for max that makes a morph target from mesh to planar uv’s(SlideKnit)…posed the scales on it…morphed back to the posed cloth then went to zbrush and used move topological and some standard brush to make them unique.
Beautiful paint over in that previous post by the way. I haven’t painted in a while but that concept art really inspired me to go back and sketch out to projects I’m working on. It really seems to be helping you from what I can tell. This tread is really progressing. The clay renders are looking super clean. Maybe start pushing the small the details and displacements in the next phases with some layered shaders maybe.
I can’t wait to see more renders!

@teddy007kong
Thanks man. I agree…the concept is beautiful, that’s why I got inspired by it to make this character.
Regarding the small details and displacement…I won’t go that way…I will make this a game character…so in best case scenario I will render a height map and use tessellation. Anyway I want it to be amazing when it will be done.
