NickZ Beta Blast. (8 movies added page 32) April 2013

Thanks Nick. I rarely feel the need to buy stuff like this but I couldnt resist. Its a great model to play with. I recommend everyone has a look at this.

thank you.

Here is something that I have been messing around with.

I have been looking into using an XBOX360 controller as a real-time input divide inside of Maya. I had my Alien Shark character laying around collecting dust so I thought I would use it as a test to see if I could do some real-time motion capture like animation in Maya.

I’m pretty pleased with this first test. The feedback is slooooow when I have high quality rendering on with all the bells and whistles. I think if I was going to do this for real I would need a very simple representation of my character to animate with, capture the performance and then render with a higher quality model. (Or I would need a much faster computer.)

Here are the controls that I made for this creature.

wow.

Oh thats cool! Like havin your own game.
Always a pleasure browsing this thread. Your blog is fantastic. Especially like the inspiration. Wish we had that show locally. Tonys work is fantastic eh?

Keep inspiring us dude.

Cheers
Brett

That is so incredibly awesome! I am stunned and amazed! Great stuff! Not so hot on the fact that you chose to use 360 as opposed to a much better gaming platform controller, BUT, it is still cool as hell!

Nice one, I have seen something on macs that somhow resembles this and lets you use midi over usb and then patch things through software to control various elements, including software.

Wish someone came out with something like this for 3dsmax or even zbrush, I would ditch the console controller though, I love my logitech rumble pad more.
And there are lots of other great pc controllers around. Would be great.

absolutly inspired, what a cool idea. excellent results.

Downloaded the movie, and bought the head.
Many thanks, and I’ll donate some more as soon as I’m out of this (temporal) trouble (next month I hope).

Thanks you. You’re a great teacher!

Great news,Gnomonology picked up my base head with tutorial as a Gnomonology tutorial pack!

In this tutorial I will be providing a pre made base head that has layers (mouth open, head turn) and polygroups (for easy selections and isolations) The model also has a fully sculpted mouth interior as well.

In the included tutorial I cover the use of ZMaterials, using PolyFrames, working with Subdivision Levels, working with PolyGroups, working with 3D layers, Poseable Symmetry, the Clay Brush, and the Transpose Tool.

I saw some of the cool work that was going on for the 3Dtotal speed challenge Manimal theme and thought it would be a fun little project for the weekend.

Here are the results from my 3 hour 39 min sculpting challenge (Yes I did time myself!) [![Manimal_CharacterStrip.jpg|1200x1080](upload://4m0WxZwzqsXcUrU7oNR0BDfUpRc.jpeg)](http://nickzucc.blogspot.com/2008/05/3dtotalcom-manimal-sculpting-challenge.html)

Cool work! Something told me to go with a fully transformed character instead of that mid-transformation shot. Too bad I didn’t listen! You and Alex really show us all how it’s done. :+1:

threetails - Thanks buddy!

[email protected]- Thanks for those kind words. I hope you sculpt something cool.

mradamw - I did not know you could either, that is until I stumbled on joystickServer on highend3d.com. From there I found ControllerServer.exe For some reason doing a search on Google for ControllerServer.exe doesn’t return much. That is why I put a link to it on blog front page.

brettSinclair - good to hear from you bud! How you been? Good I hope. Can’t wait to see what you are up 2 next.

Firerbert - Thanks for the kind words! I would use another controller if I could find a server to connect with Maya with. I have become a PS3 man here lately. I love my BlueRay! And Grand Tourismo! I got the steering wheel for my birthday…I know I’m a big dork! Oh well, I have a wife so I guess I can dork out and it doesn’t matter anymore!

Giantsun - Yeah, I wish I could connect my new Logitec steering wheel. That would rock!

threetails - thanks again!

Erik H. - Thank you for those kind words! It means a lot!

konjo Kothar vignar - Does paypal scare people? I never really thought about it much! 40 bucks…ha ha ha. Might not get too many sales then. It kinda feels weird charging for my work, I’ve been giving stuff away for so long. I put a lot of work into this head so I hope people really enjoy it.

Giantsun - Thanks again for the kind words! Much appreciated.

DELTATHUND3R - Thanks bud, you’re going to make me blush! Lord of ZBrush…nope, still learning, every day it seems!
