New Works

First test run of a nuclear explosion for the PEACE OR PERISH self portrait piece that i’m working on.
Using the new Z Sphere sketch feature in Z Brush for the explosion…Captures the expanding energy of a nuclear explosion well I think.
I’m going to keep refining, experimenting and exploring with the explosion, just to see where it expands and leads to.
All done in Z Brush so far.
Crits,suggestions,opinions welcomed.

peaaaaaaaace

wonderful piece

THANKS Adampof…Yep PEACE is a wise choise, and is always better than the alternative of MUTUAL DISTRUCTION… It’s kind of a no brainer…but then again those who are into war,the WHORES OF WAR, don’t have much in the way of brains…

Pushing this concept of PEACE OR PERISH further…humanizing it with a touch of human emotion…The kind OF EMOTION that is the TRUE cost of WAR.
As Marlon Brado once so nicely and acuratly put it …THE HORRROR.

Crits, suggestions, opinions, welcomed and would be great.

Strange composition but fun to watch. Maybe you could bend the legs of the wolf under the table a bit for a more natural pose?

Thanks Bas… That bottom wolf does look a little stiff…will see what can be done to remedy that problem… …It is a fun composition for sure…circular thing happening with the wolves in the forground…devided triangular space from top and bottom of canvas…creating a pyrimed triangle…Center and outter edge of edge of devided triangular space and pyrimeds leading into the old man as top point of the pyrimed, with the black wolfs eye being the center point of canvas…Also with the center of interest and point of the circular wolf composition being the ermin/weasel…A simple set of multiple pyrimeds…table/top/and tile thing on top with a circle attached to their right side…Stability/pyrimeds and motion/circle combined all in one composition…
Next, I was thinking of and keep seeing a warm glow from a fireplace,.keeping the old man warm at night, while he is amused at watching the antics of his companions as they catch and are mesmerized by moths fluttering around while being attracted to the flames of the fire in the fireplace that is not seen, but only suggested by it’s warm glow.
This is just something to keep me busy and ammused while I am forced to stay inside due to the frigid weather outside…Spring will be here shortly…hopefully…LOL…WISHFUL THINKING…

Have the same wish, mmmm spring. First sun will warm me up when I’m fishing or walk with my dog. I hope we have ZBrush 4 in spring (when it’s raining)

Yep Bas…I’ll be doing the same things too when Spring arrives…Walking off some of that accumalated winter fat, of both the dog and myself, and fishing for sure…I don’t have to go far for that enjoyment…the BOSTON Harbor and beach is right across the street from my little cottage and home by the sea…

A quick Z Brush primative sphere head sculpt from imagination and a color and lighting experiment with it.
A Bernini sculpture that I painted freehand using the Painter #10 program…going to build a Z Brush enviroment around it…just to practice and explore more with the new Z Brush program.
A study of a Lord Frederick painting called Flaming June that I did freehand using the Painter #10 program…will be the centerpiece for the Z Brush enviroment built around it that i’m going to create which will also have the Bernini piece I painted in it…Good way to practice and explore more with the Z Brush program…plus it allows me an opportunity to use stuff that i’ve already made and that is just sitting around collecting dust.

Realy love the last one. Thanks for showing it!
The older we are, the more we look back and use the fuel we saved from our past.

Keep dreaming and enjoy us with it!

THANKS Bas… The fuel from the past will hopefully stoke the fire of the present and keep the flame alive for the future…Reminds me of one of my most favorite movies of all time…QUEST FOR FIRE…

Worked on the wolf at the bottom of this composition study and broke up the space in the background a little.

Exported from Z Brush into Painter #10 where I refined the lighting to get more of a Rembrandt feeling of deep shadow and spotlight effect…used cool and warm color lighting.
The man was painted freehand using the oil brushs in the Painter #10 program,…the rest of the scene was created/sculpted in the Z Brush program.

Further along with this piece…Put a cool silver gray transparent tint over entire image while still in Painter #10, nutralizing the cool blues and uniting the cool with the warm colors…Next, I imported it back into Z Brush from Painter #10, and then put warm golden transparent tints of color here and there to soften edges, unify elements in the composition, and warm it up some so it feels like he is cosy while sitting in a room lit by a nice warm fireplace, enjoying the company and antics of his companions, with lots of air/atmosphere while in keeping true to Rembrandts later in life painting style and technique…
