Hello SpiritDreamer,

These ‘Wolves’ pieces are wonderfully powerful & evocative.

Always enjoy coming to your thread for a refreshing change. Love your relentless exploration. The ‘Running’ sequences are marvelous too.

Best Wishes,
Darrel

THANK YOU …GroBoto… …I just like and really enjoy the opportunity for adventure and discovery of the new, that all of this new technology offers.
Glad to hear that my thread gives you a restpit from the norm…I think we all need that in or lives at one point or the other…

I remember when I was a young kid, I listened on the radio with my father to the second Sony Liston…Casus Clay World Heavyweight Champonship Fight…It was a really major event and fight at that time in history…I think that the whole world had their ears glued to the radio, anticapating the outcome, thinking that Sony Liston was a sure thing to win…But to everyones surprise…Casus Clay…SHOOK UP THE WORLD…and won the Heavy Weight Title of The World…
This Z Brush sculpture painting is a little tribute I did in memory to that event, and to my Father who passed away while I was working on it.
I am putting it in here, so that it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle of time.
That is my father and myself seated at ringside just below the two fighters…in a scene that is from my own imagination, wishful thinking, and memory…

A little further along with my self portrait for the PEACE OR PERISH concept that i’m working on…Still just using the clay tubes brush in Z Brush to rough it up and refine some areas to make it feel like shin…old skin…
Still a long ways to go with it yet…

Hey there! I always thought you were putting a lot of stuff out and at a rapid speed, and it felt kind of strange, because I was the same when I started using Zbrush. The reason was to learn rapidly to finish off something in a decent amount of time. Now I’ve seen your self portrait, I can’t help but wonder how old are you and are you trying the exact same thing, to do as much before the time runs out so to speak? If that’s the case I back you up 100% :+1:

Hi Cherub-Rock… .Yep…You got it right…I’m 57… on permanent disability from the Veterans Administration…have alot of old injuries coming back to haunt me…have worked hard labor jobs all my life, so I could keep my art and the artistic side of my personality free…Just too much of a free spirit in me to allow that part of myself to be captured in the money game,…and yes time is getting short, and seems to be going by at the speed of light as of lately…So I am trying to squeese in as much as possible as I fly down the home stretch…at the speed of light…
But if you really want to know what i’m about, and have about three or four days to browse:D , you can always check out my CG TALK SKETCHBOOK…All 250 plus pages of it…thousands of images…then you will know where i’m coming from. …The link to it is below.
I really admire your works by the way…GREAT STUFF…:+1:
TAKE CARE, and thanks for asking who I am…:+1:
Glenn

Hey!
Thank you for your time, as I’m so happy to find a soul here as anywhere else which isn’t that much money driven  I just saw some of your works over at cgsociety and only now can I say WOW! Your 2D works translate very good into 3D, and it’s really something else :+1: I’ll take a few days to leaf through it all hehe

I know there’s a lot of other people here as well who would have something interesting to say about their work, other than it striving to become a business standard and popular. And it kind of saddens me the lack of interest. But even some of those stories would be quite interesting I reckon, someone trying to feed his family, but if you succeed in this job my guess is you want to feed your family very expensively, and with lots of food and lots of cars and travels

Have a smashing new year!

THANKS Cherub-Rock… Good luck going throug my other CG TALK SKETCHBOOK…I haven’t even managed to do that yet,…waiting for a time when I have time…
Everybody chooses their own path to follow in this life…I’ve managed to create my own path and have chosen to stay on it over the years, and have no regrets as to where it has led me…SO FAR…

Toying with the composition of this PEACE OR PERISH piece that i’m working on,…Lots left to do on it yet…Concentrating on creating an interesting negative space around the main subject…I kind of like the up angle…will add to the drama.

Sticking to the original thought behind this sketchbook.
Start of another experiment to combine Z Brush and the PAINTER #10 programs to create a unified piece of work…ONENESS.
Using a copy I painted freehand in the Painter #10 program of an old man that Rembrandt painted…I enlaged the canvas around the figure to give me room to build an eviroment around him…Imported him into Z Brush from Painter #10, where I will create the surrounding enviroment using Z Brush.
Will give me a chance to experiment and explore further with the new Z Brush program and also further practice composition.
Crits, suggestions, opinions always welcomed, and would be great.

He, fun to see this experiment. Curious where it goes!
Long time ago I was playing with a Rembrandt too. I used an alpha from an ‘original-rembrandt-brushstroke’ to paint color and Zadd.

THANKS Bas Mazur… Hey, I really enjoyed going through that sketchbook that you gave me the link to …saved it to my favorites…lots to learn from it  …I also a few years ago painted the same Rembrandt portrait that you were experimenting with…really hard to imatate all of those descriptive brushstrokes of his, especally doing it digitally:D …but it was a really fun exercise and challenge none the less…and I learned alot from trying and also grew to admire his works and his later style of painting that much more in the process…

On the one i’m working on now, …i’m just having fun and letting it go to wherever it leads to, while at the same time, practicing what I don’t know that much about in Z Brush…It’s all about learning, experimenting, and exploring for me at this stage of the game in my life…I’m not concerned with producing polished finished pieces that produce money anymore.Been there done that already…I just want the freedom to do what’s really in my hearts spirit when it comes to my art…
Thanks again for the feedback Bas…much appreceated…:+1:

Fun, is’nt that a coincidence!
Yes you are right to keep playing. ZBrush is great in combination with 2d.
I can’t wait to work with the next version on the mac, those zspheres are great.
Keep going, we meet again! :+1:

Thanks Bas… Yep, it’s a small small world sometimes…
I think that you’ll have lots and lots of fun with those ZSphere sketches…will set off buzzers in that imagination of yours for sure, i’m sure…
Can’t wait to see the results of your first contacts with them…

A little further along with this latest venture that i’m working on.

Nice works buddy!!! :+1:

Yep, you hit the target about those zspheres. It looks like painting in the air. I should like to have something like a Wii and a big screen, painting/sculpting and be tired.
Blweeeeh, stupid, better back to the roots and have a model and a big canvas. Oilpaint, the smell of Venetian turpentine and vernice Dammar. Some (bee)wax and nice pigments…
Nooooh, this will take too much time to earn money, system, insurance… and other things we need to stay alive.
Back to the image, it looks like the floor is too high. His feet will sink away under the floor.
Hahaha, when I go walking with my dog, many times I see a man in an electric wheelchair. His legs are gone but his pants are there. When the wind blows, his ‘legs’ are moving funny. Sorry I have to smile about that, but more wind brings more fun. Maybe the man could live in the room with the high floor?
Keep the dream alive!
Bazyli

I have seen you use Painter but in Zbrush you have PaintStop that can make some crazzy things too on direct 3D objects!
Keep active imagination!

THANK YOU…Gopikrishna…

THANKS BAS…LOL…I want him seated on a lower level than the forground.Watch out for that first step…will be hard to see in the shadows when I turn down the lights…Rembrandt style…
Get out those oils…What is life without risk…

Frenchy Pilou…Thanks man… …Paint Stop…On my list of to does for sure…

A little further along…Where it goes from here, only the shadow knows…I sure don’t, i’m just following that shadow to wherever it leads me to, and enjoying the journy for whatever it’s worth…

G’day

I really enjoyed looking at all these images. There is something unique about them. Some look at first glance unfinished, but then you realise no they are just right. The colours are very bold, but subtle at the same time. I love the mix of Zbrush and Painter.

Hey and don’t ask to see my folio because I can’t draw a straight line; really. My father was a great sculptor and a good pianist also. I didn’t get any of the drawing genes but did get some music composition skills. I am a bit older than you coming in at 63.

You have fascinating work and it is really inspiring to see. I will visit your other site later.

Best wishes to you and your family and hooroo for now.

Paul.

Paul Copeland…Paul…THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH for the kind words and thoughts…Really appreceated…Made my morning much better…
Best Wishes for you and yours also…:+1:
