In any case, I wouldn’t continue or discontinue what I love doing because of anyones opinion…bad or good…

Zsoka did you reread your post? The first part was constructive, but the rest is a subjective attack on his own imagination. You also said that you did not like the tone of the posts and yet you just called Spiritdreamer “immature” and that his imagination was stupid. Your post has declined into a personal attack. Critiques should be professional and courteous. Why is that so hard to do? If you can not be professional, do not post.
Plus, his work is reflecting the oil spill. You know the complete act of negligence brought about by BP oil executives and Haliburton (where have I heard that name before?) that killed 11 people and created the deadliest environmental disaster ever. Your post is more reflective of your own biased and political affiliation than Spiritdreamers work. The role of the artist is not to change anything. At the very least, it is to bring awareness.
Zsoka great looking portfolio! You have nothing to show the world at all and yet you judge other people’s work. The only thing you have contributed to this site is your maturity level.
I will agree with one thing. The tone on this thread is terribly prejudice. Not everyone here wants nor desires to be a technical artist. The mind set from a lot of people is too focused on graphic realism.

Hi guys, I am making no comments about anyone’s art at this time - just noticing that some of you are desireous of giving seroius critique to art - I am unclear why people do not often critique or comment on my work because it definitely can use improvement … as is almost always the case with art … at least mine:).
This is an open invitation for people to critique my 1st complete character (link provided below). Those that do critique or comment on my work - it is much appreciated and almost without exception I have learned from each critique - even if I don’t make a change on a current project - I still learn for the future on how my work is perceived by others.

I have no portfolio on here because I am not a Zbrush specialist but a TRADITIONAL OIL PAINTER.
I sell my works between 3000 and 7000 British Pounds each and I usually sell around 20 paintings a year.
I have had over 30 exhibitions and 11 of these were one person shows.
2 of my shows were a sell out.
I have over 20 years experience as a professional teacher and artist and I do not think that you can match any of the above so please STFU.
In regards to your pathetic attempts to belittle me I could care less but please get your facts straight - I responded to an insult - I did not start one.
In regards to the oil spill and the “evil” Haliburton company and BP etc - you must be right on the inside of it all to be SO SURE of what you are saying or is it a fact that you are a simple minded moron that just believes everything the lame street liberal press tells you. I bet you voted for obama too. Are you feeling embarrassed yet?

In regards to the political aspect. I never mentioned anything about Republicans. I never mentioned anything about the oil spill.
What I said was that to have such a naive position on matters to do with an industry that is pervasive and necessary is childish and a poor excuse for an intellect.
The world is not a perfect place and you have to break eggs to make omlettes. So what the hell.

PS His work requires serious development and the way he defends his work is not acceptable in an art school environ and would get him a F for sure. zsoka- would be nice to see some of your works, not to prove anything, but just to share your works with people. Indeed, this is a forum to share our works and to both accept praise as well as criticism.
spiritdreamer- i have seen alot of your works, frankly, i avoid clicking on your work. Just not my cup of tea. I won’t get into the ‘art or not’ debate. What I would suggest though is for you to improve your technical aspect of your work to complement your creative ideas.
While it’s all good to do abstract art, even the abstract art is based upon reality. I’m no expert, I have no masters in art, I have no proud artwork to show the world, so feel free to ignore my humble opinion. Of coz feel free to criticize my work too. =)
Let us all, as different kind of artist, all learn to be humble and appreciate differences as varied as the colours we use to paint.
If you read the last thing I say in my statement at the top of the page on the first page of this sketchbook, you will know that that’s why I opened this sketchbook to begin with…TO LEARN…I have learned alot of things about ZBRUSH, AND ALSO ABOUT THIS FORUM AND THE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN IT.

The vast majority of the people in this forum are great,open minded, kind and giving of themselves and have alot to offer to anyone who is involved in this forum…That’s why I am sticking with it…I refuse to let a few idiots dictate what I should and should not do …I know what advise is good and works to benifit my work, and I also know what is not good advice for my work…I have been doing it for 50 plus years and have probably forgotten more than what most of the naysayers of my work have learned in their lifetimes so far.
It’s a learning and relearning journy still, and is still filled with surprizes, and happy accidents to learn from.

one last honest word to spiritdreamer though:
It is right and true, you are entitled to post whatever you like here and we are all prone to subjective perception. but by putting your stuff out here you simply also have to accept that not all will respond with admiration and just as you have the right to post, the other have the right to react as they feel.
the one thing though that you should really reconsider is to maybe keep it down a little with those minimal barely noticeable countless updates which at times border to simply spamming the bottom row. just out of fair use and the will to leave room for others.
I know I said it before and I still wonder why you of all people are not open to the concept of fairness in that regard. since you are so concerned about the planet and peace etc…

LOL JULIAN…I have cut it back to one post a day,and most have alot of changes …that’s less than alot of people posting in here…Maybe there should be a third row, …that is something that you might suggest to the higher ups…just a positive passing thought that may solve alot of perceived problems.
Maybe even a section/forum for just finished works, seperate from the sketchbook section.
I tend to fill up my digital skeckbooks rapidly, just as I do my traditinal ones…capturing thoughts before they escape, so I can refine them later if I desire to…usually about 20 or so pieces going at once.
That’s the way I was tought to do it…keeps the ideas flowing, and there is always something in the works to work on when there is a lull in the idea storm so to speak.
