New Work.

Hi Glenn, thanks so much! I am glad that you like these last few! Here is another from the same family! Cheers, David

I gotta say chalkman this is amazing work, totally love your abstract art! I was inspired by wassily kandinski but I love your art much more, really fantastic job on those! I can imagein everything on a real gallery and people come visit looking at these artworks!:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
Keep it coming buddy!

Hi Kenny,

Thanks so much for the complements!

Kandinski is a very high standard to shoot for, but thanks for the comparison! All the best, David

A few people have been interested in my workflow. I have not had the time yet to do a proper tutorial but I just want to talk a bit about what I do in most of my work. I hope that I am not discussing something that is obvious to everyone!

My work is mostly 2.5D … I enjoy this because it is like sketching and I can experiment a lot. I often us Topmod to create some interesting meshes and then I use one or two of these meshes as tools … by laying them down with different strokes I can get a lot of different looks, I can also mess with the stroke settings and brush size for further looks.

I also use simple presets like ring or helix with initialize to modify them … next I might use deformation to make further refinements ( I get freaky results sometime with inflate (extreme negative value) Gravity is also interesting to play with.

All of the above makes for economy of creation and I can make some very complex scenes in a relatively short time! Most I the time I just export an image made with the preview render. I do a lot of cleanup and edge blur in PS.

I hope this makes sense to you … It works for me! When I get back from East Africa in the Spring I will make a proper tutorial! Cheers, David

Very very cool!!!

I wish that ZBrush could keep track of what we d o in 2.5D and send it to a 3D printer…
I would love that one you did with spray.

Hey Mealea, Thank you so much! And thanks for your great tutorials!

I will get around to recording when I have more time. I still have your instructions for making the tutorials! Cheers, David

That would be cool … I suppose it could be done with a s***load of sub tools and then sent to a 3D printer. I just love the immediacy of 2.5D! Cheers, David

Me jealous! Well, I guess I will have to wait until After your walk-a-bout, but the teaser you have provided will suffice. I will explore 2.5D a bit. Thanks for sharing.

Derek

Hey Derek, Don’t be jealous, it’s not a Safari trip. I am going to a hospital over there as part of a small inter-disaplinary burn team from NY to teach burn care! cheers, David

New work 2.5D. Cheers, David

:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1: thnx for the demo back a post also - nice work !!

Hi Gary, my pleasure! When I have some time I will record some of my 2.5D workflow. I am preparing to go away in four weeks and should be back early April. Glad you liked the last piece! Cheers, David

Pretty cool man.
I have a suggestion, try some odd measurements of your canvas before composition of your artworks. Some thing like 1800x375 or vise versa.

Hi Nicko, Thanks so much for stopping by! I like your idea, I used to love a panoramic format. I intend to give it a shot! Cheers, David

A bit of a new look … still 2.5D  cheers, David

Fantastic work again David, totally love your style and 2,5D creations! everything really refreshing to see!:+1:

Hi Kenny,

Thank you so much for your kind words … always a pleasure to hear your comments! All the best, David
