Keep exploring this nice software.

@santal:

Hey Santal, thanks so much I am glad that you are enjoying my work! I am trying to keep it interesting. :laughing: I am also enjoying your thread … I especially like the young girl, proud and stubborn looking. :+1:

Cheers, David :smiley:

Hi David :slight_smile:

Hey…Great start for the New Year…:+1:…Really looking forward to seeing where this technique of yours evolves to …been a great adventure to bear wittness to so far…Keep em comin…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
Glenn

Hi Bas, Thank you so much!

In the past I have worked with many 3D apps (Power Animator, TDI, Wavefront, Maya, C4D) but Zbrush for me is a pleasure to use and learn. It is so much a different paradigm from all other 3D applications it takes some time to re-learn and wrap ones head around it’s uniqueness. All the best for the New Year!

Cheers, David

My second effort for the new year … hope you like it! :smiley:

@SpiritDreamer

Hi Glenn, thanks so much. I appreciate your traveling down this road with me … I don’t know where i’m going but i’m getting there. :lol:

all the best, David :smiley:

Here goes another … I really like the direction I am moving in right now. Any thoughts on this work? Cheers, David :smiley:

so many beautiful works. i particularly liked the two from post 225 and 226, 225 being my favourite. these two have quite a different feeling, fragile, and elegant. would love to see if you feeled like exploring this direction more :slight_smile:
also love the “kandinsky”, yes that was what i was thinking too when i saw it. kandinsky with soft colors.
the new one, somehow not works for me. the lines and shapes, and their arrangement is wonderful, but the noses are disturbing. the red one even is almost focal point…but, now that i write that, i am thinking that is what you intended , as your composition skills are so great. i always have the feeling you tell us something with the works… just my thoughts. (oh, and i think it is not because these are noses, but their organic feel, their shapes quality is (for me) not working together with the rest,)

Hey Chalkman,

Just wanted to say Happy New Year to you and your dog heh. I like these last 2 although ones seems kind of nosy :lol:. Kind of like Salvador Dali meets Steampunk. I like the effect, Keep it up!

Hi Kokoro,

I really thank you for your appreciation and evaluation of my work! I am back and forth between the more delicate work as in #225 & #226 and the more metallic/weathered look of a many of the others. Yes the nose was more prominent in the last image (if you look at some of the "steampunk’ like images you will see noses as well) … I often inject “subliminal” elements into a composition (a nose, ear or a hand positioned in such a way that it appears to be a prehistoric fish). I hardly ever name images as they are narrative and I want everyone to bring their own experiences to the work, it is also fine to just be pleasing to the senses. :smiley:

These are all sketches and a body of work in flux … still feeling my way. :lol:

It’s always a pleasure to have you view my work!

Cheers,
David

Hey Tartan, Thanks for viewing my work! I like that description. :lol: I do love the surreal and have recently been intrigued by steampunk … I am just been trying to put my own spin on both of them!

Cheers,
David :smiley:

Another new one … I keep changing direction, but I think that’s good … a bit like getting getting on to a train and not knowing where it is going often makes for the best trip! :lol:

Cheers, David :smiley:

Hi David :slight_smile:

Eastern Dragon Fight…Couldn’t have the wind, thunder, and lightning without them quarreling over property rights every now and then,…or the crops that flourish from the rain that those Dragon Storms produce…:D…Just what this last post of yours puts me in mind of…:)…Funny how these images have a way of sparking thoughts hidden within ones imagination…That’s a big part of what makes them …Great:D
Glenn

I’m really loving this thread. I can’t help but think how good they would look as actual 3D sculptures, though they may be too delicate.

Think you could make a video of the process, even if shortened/simplified?

Ok … still 2.5D but very different use of positive and negative space here, perhaps more of a sense of depth as well. Like to hear what you guys think! :lol:

Cheers,
David

Hey Glenn, Thanks! :smiley:

I am so happy that some of these images evoke those kinds of thoughts … exactly what I hope to do with this work. It’s as if the images are already in my head and just have to be revisited. When I first went to the Soviet Union in 1982 it was a similar experience. I had certain “romantic” images of what Russia would be, in my minds eye and when I got there I just had to look for them … I was not disappointed!

@kevphil
Thanks so much for your kind words, I am really glad you are enjoying this thread! I will try and make a short tutorial, I have never done one before so you will have to be patient with me! :lol:

All the best,
David :smiley:

I feel like you need to be added to the top row artists, purely due to using zbrush in the most unique way I’ve every seen…and I’ve been following zbc long before I could ever afford my own copy of the program…

Keep it up man, really bad@$$ work
Corey

Hi Corey, Thank you very much! I am so glad that you are enjoying my sketches. I will try and keep this thread interesting and fresh! :lol:

All the best, David :smiley:

So much to look forward to in 2012! I for one am so interested in the addition of hair. I really love hair in C4D but as I am wont to do, hardly ever used it as conventional hair. :lol: I imagine I will find some bizarre use for it in Zbrush.

Here is another new piece. I hope you enjoy it. Cheers, David :smiley:
